Premier
Soccer League (PSL) Acting CEO, Cambridge Mokanyane has heaped praise on
Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United following their gutsy performance during
their continental outings.
SuperSport
United recorded a hard-fought goalless draw away from home against Egyptian
side, ENPP in the CAF Confederations Cup encounter on Friday night. Reigning
Absa Premiership champions,
Orlando
Pirates laboured to an emphatic 3-1 victory against highly rated Democratic
Republic of Congo outfit, TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League fixture at the
Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
Pirates
will now travel to Lubumbashi for the return leg where all they need to do is
to keep the highly-rated Mazembe at bay. Meanwhile, SuperSport will host ENPP
at home for a return leg.
Mokanyane
said: “The results by both clubs Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United is good
news for our country. I’m very happy to see that we have turned things around
when playing clubs from the continent. As one of the major leagues in the
African continent, it is important for the Premier Soccer League to also show
their dominance on the field.”
The
PSL Acting CEO wished both clubs luck: “We are fully behind SuperSport United
and Orlando Pirates. Their success is also our success. I urge all South
Africans to get behind the two clubs.”
