On-form Absa
Premiership log-leaders, Kaizer Chiefs have claimed the top honours in the Absa
Premiership Quarter Q-Innovation Three (Q3).
This follows an
impressive unbeaten spell for Amakhosi. Chiefs accumulated 18 points from eight
games – with three draws and no loss.
This is the second
time Chiefs claims the R1, 5 million prize money this season. Last year, Chiefs
were crowned champions of Q1 with their coach Stuart Baxter winning the Coach
of the Quarter and striker Bernard Parker being rewarded with a Player of the
Quarter award.
PSL Acting CEO,
Cambridge Mokanyane congratulated Chiefs for winning the R1, 5 million prize.
“Kaizer Chiefs have
been playing great football lately and it is no surprise that they have emerged
as the overall winners of Quarter Three. I would like to congratulate the
Kaizer Chiefs chairman, Mr Kaizer Motaung, Chiefs management, coach Stuart
Baxter, the club captain Itumeleng Khune and the Kaizer Chiefs players for this
achievement. To win the Q-Innovation twice in one season is no small feat,”
Mokanyane said.
“One of the biggest
successes of the Q-Innovation concept is that it has placed significant value
on every game,” he added.
The PSL Acting CEO
will hand over the R1, 5 million cheque to Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday during
their Absa Premiership fixture against Golden Arrows.
There will be an
opportunity for flash interviews after the game with Kaizer Chiefs coach,
Baxter.
