Fans of the iconic
Peruvian club help celebrate the unveiling of the new kit.
Nike
Football unveiled Alianza Lima's new kit on Feb. 5, showcasing the iconic
club’s blue and white colors. The new jersey captures the design and tradition
of the team’s glory days in the late ‘70s, when it became an inter-regional
champion in 1977 and won the Copa Libertadores semifinal the following year,
boasting notable players such as Cubillas, Sotil, Cueto, Velásquez and Duarte.
The
new kit is inspired by the passion of blanquiazul fans. Designed using 100
percent polyester, the kit features Nike Dri-FIT technology, which helps keep
players dry and comfortable by wicking perspiration from the skin.
Fans
played a unique part in the kit’s unveiling. A bus packed with supporters
departed from a Nike store in downtown Lima, and fans showed their support via
Twitter as they drove to the venue where the kit was unveiled to media. The tag
#AvanzaAlianza (“Move on Alianza”) became a trending topic shortly after the
campaign was launched thanks to fans’ participation. The team will wear the new
kit in a friendly match on Feb. 5 against Sucre’s Club Universitario, in the
iconic Estadio Alejandro Villanueva “Matute.”
Alianza
Lima is the oldest and most popular club in the Peruvian First Division. The
club has won 23 league titles. Alianza last won the League championship in 2006
and came in as runner-up in the 2009 and 2011 editions of the tournament.
The
new jersey is available in Nike stores, Marathon Sports, key department stores
and at key retailers.
