Let
The Truth Be Told, Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund has inherited the worst
Bafana Bafana team since its re-admission in the international football in
1990. We don't have quality players. This current generation of players is not
good enough - too many mediocre players in the team.
Now
Igesund will have serious headache prior to the opening game against Cape Verde
in 7 days time; His headache is emanating from the following reasons;
1.
His best striker Katlego Mphela is unfit and not sharp enough to trouble any
defence. At the present moment, he can't complete 50 minutes of play
2.
Bafana creative player Thulani Serero is also not fit enough to play 55 minutes
3.
The central defence pair of Bongani Khumalo and Siyabonga Sangweni is still
looking suspicious to leak goals. The duo lacks pace to chase fast strikers.
4.
The engine combo of Dean Furman and Kagiso "KG" Dikgacoi is dead and
buried. KG and Dean Furman lack speed and offensive moves to trouble opposition
defence when going forward. The combo is now disastrous to the nation. The
combo lacks organization, direction and shape.
5.
Bafana wing play is not effective at all. Our boys always lost balls in the
last quarter of the field. Siphiwe Tshabalala
is not sharp enough at the left wing whilst Thuso Phala last touch is always
disappointing.
6.
The team lacks creative player with defence unlocking passes. Our boys enjoy
running like headless chicken without any impact going forward.
7.
Our striking force is toothless without any sufficient ball supply as our wing
play is not effective and our central midfielder lacks offensive moves and
speed going forward.
8.
Our striking force also lack composure and best goal scoring techniques. The
PSL leading goal-scorer Bernard Parker is also played out of the position as
left winger instead of supporting striker in the 1st half against Algeria. His
scoring ability has been compromised by Igesund tactical system.
The
selected team is nothing but an average team with many unfit players. Igesund
dug his own grave by selecting players based on reputation than merits. Our
current team doesn't look like scoring team. It’s going to be tough for Igesund
to beat strong side in the tournament. I foresee many 0-0 draws in the group
stage.
The
only good thing about Bafana is Itumeleng Khune and Thabo Matlaba but the rest
of the players are not mental ready to re-conquer Africa like the class of
1996.
I’m
worried about the status quo of the Bafana Bafana towards the opening game.
