Are Roger de Sa's tactics failing Pirates?

Written By Unknown on Monday, October 1, 2012 | Monday, October 01, 2012

Orlando Pirates coach, Roger de Sa, suffered his first defeat in the hands of Bloemfontein Celtic as the defending league champions went down 1-0 at the Free State Rugby Stadium on Sunday. Here are some of the comments from the Orlando Pirates Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/OrlandoPirates

Roger de Sa has to get his act together I never understood his formation. The Pirates game is about wing play, attacking from wide with pace and then cutting in. What Roger plays is strange and Myeni should try to keep the shape of the formation he's talented by does too much to no avail he should release the ball early at times.

Pirates don't have strikers seriously!! This is costing us! And the defenders made a big mistake! They are shaky err now and then! Not good or encouraging! And they should stop this possession football of theirs (dribbling and keeping the ball too much to themselves) and start passing long balls! This is not good! Pirates should start changing their 'game'!

We should have signed Erwin Isaacs, cos we really need a mobile striker, Mbuyane is too slow, McCarthy, Mbesuma and Chinyama are similar strikers and we shouldn’t have let Rantie go. If you don’t convert the chances you created you’ll end losing the game!

Why is Mbuyane playing 90 minutes because he is not scoring? Why not give Ndulula a chance? Manyisa is playing as attacking midfielder and has not scored a goal for more 30 games! Why don't play Jali with another player and see if it can work!

Possession football counts for nothing if we not creative enough to provide the perfect kill pass and in the few times the team gets behind the opponents defense they lack the composure needed to convert chances in to the much needed goals.

As long as we do not have the passion and the desire to win... we will get 1000 chances and we'll conert none. The body language possessed by the players does not reflect championship spirit. Confidence cannot be boosted by results. It should come from deep within and right now Bucs aren't showing the hunger they've shown over the years. Come on boys I know you can do this, you’ve got such an amazing squad and amazing depth, determination and hunger - that’s all we need!

No need to worry JuJus, defending the league doesn't mean we have to win all our games, remember when Papic was in charge, we once went +15 games no lose, did we win the league NO, come Krol we gave him time losing important games by his 3rd year he won the league by the way you guys wanted him gone also. Let's be positive Bucs, do we have to win because Chiefs is winning, No, let's give the coach and the players a chance, I say relax JuJulicious, this is SA not Spain.

We all know that Orlando Pirates was all over Bloemfontein Celtic. They we're so unfortunate. Pirates can stand for Bafana Bafana. We just need Benni McCarthy and Takesure Chinyama in full fitness then the Happy People will forever be happy.

We were doing fine until Roger substituted Okonkwo for Mbesuma. That was a schoolboy mistake by Roger. Yes the players missed many chances but u don't put your best player on the bench and put in a burnt-out player!

Don’t know why the coaches like Mbuyane this much, I don’t know why they took Segolela, Onkwonko and Matlaba off. I don’t know why they played Mbesuma instead of Bibo. I also can't understand why they always pass the ball to the goalkeeper most of the time, they play at the back they don’t attack and I just don’t know why is that. These players haven't reached their full potential but I know things will change Mr. Roger de Sa has a plan. Mmm I just feel like Pirates players let themselves down easily and I don’t know why they do that. But me not given up on my team it's just a rough time caused by Pirates players and coaches themselves, I will always support Pirates cos I’m born Buccaneer. Once a Pirates always a Pirates!!!

We played well and don't criticise the coach about substitutions, the coach took out the players cause its either they tired or they having a bad day in the office. You can't expect the players to perform well all the time. Please people rely behind your team and coach. Please Mabhakaniya. It’s still early to judge and panic. #UP THE BUCS

Once a Pirates always... all is not lost, strikers need to work on their finishing… you are not true Buccaneer if start want the coach’s head in just three games, it happen to the best in d world Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United, AC Milan.... please write some constructive suggestions and comments, no one is perfect… even Man United lost just on Saturday maar their support still behind the lads… so to the true supports and whose blood is black and white let sail through d storms and tribulation of this journey to retain our title.. Up the Bucs!!!!!
