The
Technical Committee selection panel of the South African Football Association
(SAFA) has completed its final interview today when it interviewed Mr Steve
Komphela for the position of the Bafana Bafana Head Coach.
At
the end of the interview process, the scores for each candidate were finalized
and the top candidates have now been identified. They are Gordon Igesund and
Steve Komphela.
These
two candidates have been invited by the Committee to make a further
presentation to the National Executive Committee of SAFA which is
constitutionally mandated to appoint the Senior Men’s National Team Coach.
These
presentations will take place on the 30th June, following which the NEC will
receive the report and recommendation of the Technical Committee, and will then
finalise the appointment of the coach from these two candidates.
“We
are delighted that this process is reaching its conclusion,” stated Robin
Petersen, CEO of SAFA. “Both of these candidates have shown their credentials,
and either of them would make an excellent National Team Coach.”
Petersen
went on to thank the other candidates, Gavin Hunt, Shakes Mashaba and Neil
Tovey, for their participation in the process.
