Bucs slam dirty tricks ... despite fans’ late rally to move to third spot

BUSY : Kaizer Chiefs team manager Bobby Motaung

CANVASSING : Orlando Pirates spokesman Mickey Modisane

HELPING THE NEEDY : Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates fans will rally behind their teams in support of charity.

Despite their fans’ late rally to claw back into the top four, Orlando Pirates have slammed “the dirty tricks” employed by some clubs to garner votes for the Telkom Charity Cup.

Soweto giants Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs – who were respectively in third and fourth place late last night – were earlier in danger of missing the pre-season charity tournament, which had AmaZulu, Mamelodi Sundowns and Platinum Stars as front runners.

By last night, the two top spots had still not changed, although Chiefs and Pirates had improved their positions, while Sundowns had been relegated to fifth.

Bucs’ spokesperson Mickey Modisane claims the votes are not a true reflection of supporters’ backing and that some clubs were rather having people make countless calls to the voting lines in order to get their teams to qualify.

“Let us be honest here – people are killing the spirit of the tournament and those doing this should think about match day – whether there will be bums on seats to reflect all those votes at the stadium,” Modisane said.

What concerns them most, Modisane said, was the potential loss of R3million in gate-taking revenue, which charity organisations stand to lose if both Chiefs and Pirates do not qualify.

The two Soweto giants enjoy enormous support throughout South Africa. The two teams are capable of filling any venue to the rafters. Their support also goes beyond these borders.

“If you were to look at our votes, you would realise that there is no disparity between the SMSs and the phone call votes made – the number of SMSs that our fans had made were close to the number of calls. This tells you that we are going out to our branches and are urging our supporters to make those calls, while others have opted for these tactics.

“For instance, we are presently in the East London area canvassing for support,” Modisane said.

Chiefs’ team manager Bobby Motaung had not returned our calls at the time of going to press.

The Charity Cup will take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on August 1.

Enough has been said, Kompele has done very well by taking Mabizela and Pule back. Now I trust Pirates will act like a Father as they have done in the past. I plead that Steve Lekoelea be brought back to Pirates. Many things have been said and I am not going to endulge in that, it has become very clear that Steve shines best at Pirates. Besides a humanbeing has never been thrown away. We may not have signed all that we really needed but these viking piracy bones will float across the deep waters with much ease when Steve is back home. Let us not hold grudges in our hearts but let us truely forgive and be healed. Let us extend our hands to our dear son and tell him we missed him so much. I recall how we afectionately call him "Kido". Look at Alex now that he is back at Sundowns his lusture has come back and looks very glossy again. No doubt Steve wants to come home and play even hard, but he seems not so sure if we can take him back hom. Even the prodigal son was allowed back home. The ANC exiles were allowed back home. FIFA has allowed Africans to host the World Cup. America has allowed a black man to become president. Zuma after all his many years in exile and the storms he faced upon his return is now president. Can Pirates bring back Steve Lekoelea?

Chiefs is something else, I just sneak a peak on their web side and there they got Umlungu. Sundowns got Booth. Please Mr. Khoza get us a few ngamlas, they make boerewors. Whre is Gavin "Stability" Lane, Gordon Ingesund has a son we can bring on board. We need some Indians on board, where is Deshi Baktower? Where is Pionuguera? Where is Warren Lewis. Chiefs is working on getting Loui Tshakwane back and am glad for them. Chiefs has not been raising their hands in a long time, no wonder they are not in shape, with loui coming back Chiefs we once again be Phefeni boys and Not Mzansi Grandoles. I will talk to the garden boys union to mobilise their bosses to join Pirates or tools down. We will reinforce by getting Nannies to get Madam join Pirates our the babies will be put down. Boss and Madam must stop playing trics and just join Pirates. They have Pirates bumper stickers and it's time they come on board.I am sure by the time the whole Bucanner much from Soweto to Pretoria in protest of Madam and Bass to join Bucaneer. I request that Mr. Mbele draft a letter that we as bucs fans can take to our Madam and bass to sign and Join Pirates. I hope celtic does not kopa this style.

Right now is 01 pirates and 01 chiefs. We are really entering them this second half, they came in with Pramastove horse power and we have 18 wheeler horse power. The Colonel has instructed the General and the General has quietened the enemy.

watch this side in the next second half you will not be let down unless you belong to the deep frying pan.
