The season that was

Written By Unknown on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 | Wednesday, May 20, 2009

What a season it has been. There are a lot of things that made this season interesting for me.

Firstly I need to say well done to Supersport United, you did it once more. Secondly to Siwelele asa Masele, I am happy you guys made it home safe, but I truly would want to see you guys compete for silverware, not relegation.

What was Muhsin Ertugral doing at Kaizer Chiefs this season? He came, destroyed the team and left. Chiefs became an ordinary team, to a point that they were defeated by Pretoria University, shame all Amakhosi faithfuls.

Things are not going to get better, until Kaizer Motaung fires his son Bobby Motaung and put Kaizer Jnr. Motaung on transfer. Doesn’t look like Kaizer is in touch with soccer anymore, so being a Chiefs fan is really being a laughing stock.

Orlando Pirates coach Rudi Krol is fast becoming Kosta Papic. First he plays good football and comes second. Will He win it for Bucs next season? Or like Papic, he will once again come close? I hope He wins it, I mean how long should Bucs stay without the illusive championship?

Wayne Sandilands had a fantastic season. I am surprised Wayne is not part of Bafana Bafana setup as yet, but why should I be when Richard Henyekane was dealt with by the so called Carlos Perreira life plan.

Apparently if Perreira did not give Joel Santana your name, it does not matter what you do, you simply are not going to be called up to the national team. This keeper was outstanding and yet He does not feature for the best goalkeeper of the year award, but Calvin Marlin, for some reason makes it.

Teko Modise hits the bar, again and again. If only He converted the chances and not hit the bar, Bucs would have won the league. Unlike last season, when by luck, He won player of the year award, this time luck deserted him. He is undoubtedly the Best thing to happen to Pirates lately. Make no mistake, the boy have outgrown the PSL. He is class.

Lehlohonolo Seema. Need I say more? All you need to do is read all his columns this year on the Pirates website. Mr. Mistakes have really cost the Sea Robbers dearly. It would not be fair to single out players for a bad season, but my word this player knows he cost the team.

The Big J comes back. He promised all of us who believed in him that He will come back, and He did. All hail the King of SA Football, the Black Prince. I don’t think He needs to prove anything to anyone; the man is a football magician.

Over and above all Diskioff continues to grow, well done to the team at Diskioff, you still are the best bunch ever.
