Come to think of it......... Mamelodi Sundowns is an average team as much as Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Moroka Swallows, Bloemfontein Celtic and the whole lot except you know who. Ajax Cape Town is between good and very good with the likes of Supersport United and Golden Arrows.
I think it is about time supporters face facts and forget about sentiments or allegiance. They sometimes behave like ostriches by denying facts as they so often still want to hold on to STATS of yesteryears.
I think the Sundowns coach (Henri Michel) has the guts to say what he said as he works with his players on a daily basis and irrespective whether we want to deny it his comment), he is coming from a higher standard (Ivory Cost, Morocco, Zamalek etc) if you were to compare our Nation Team against the mentioned National Teams.
With regards to CAF club games, the least said the better for we are so far behind; we still need to cross the Sahara Dessert before we can see the fading footsteps of the year 2000 of the teams up north of the equator.
To truth is...... the truth HURTS whether we like it or not. South African soccer is not as powerful as we want or make all to believe because we are still trapped with the idea that we are the best in Africa. It is just cause of the love of the game and our teams that we are still flocking to the stadiums.
Our teams cannot even compete against teams from the SADC region, yet we want to claim the scalps of the likes of, Zamalek, Al Hilal etc. Enough is enough that we PRETEND that we know and are the best in Africa.
Even PSL teams are not consistent, yet we expect miracles when our soldiers / troops run onto the field. Maybe we should have only night games (forget about broadcasters as everybody will be at the game) to get a better product on the field of play as in Spain as the heat is killing our players.
