MTN8 lines up exciting MTN8 Trophy Tour ahead of semifinals

In the build-up to the much-anticipated MTN8 2^nd leg, semifinal ties between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer (Orlando stadium, 3pm) and Bidvest Wits vs. Platinum Stars (Bidvest Stadium, 7:30pm) on Heritage Day, Tuesday 24^th September, MTN continues the MTN8 Trophy Tour to create awareness and excitement around the upcoming two matches.

The MTN8 Trophy Tour which takes place outside Maponya Mall on Saturday 21^st September, will allow football fans in Soweto and surrounding areas an opportunity to take a photo with the sought after Wafa Wafa trophy.

The Trophy Tour will also serve to communicate the activities and entertainment that supporters who will come to the semifinal matches can expect on Heritage Day as well as the transport plans to and from Orlando Stadium.

Fans attending the Trophy Tour also stand a chance to win match tickets to the two semifinals at Orlando and BIDVest stadium.

Road Closure Schedule

All roads will be closed at 9h00 and will be opened at 18h00.

Public Parking

 General secured parking will be available only at FNB stadium. Parking will be sold at R10.00 via computicket outlet. Patrons will have to purchase the Rea Vaya transit tickets which will be sold at the Rea Vaya Soccer City station, prices for Double trip cards (to the value of R37.00) and single trip cards (to the value of R25.00). 

Soccer City Station will operate to Orlando Stadium Rea Vaya Station for the fans before and after the match.  Fans will only be dropped at Rea Vaya stations along the BRT route.

VVIP, VIP, Media & Hospitality Parking will be in and around the Stadium precinct, tickets will be colour coded accordingly.  There will be no parking at Orlando Stadium for general public.

Rea Vaya Schedule

Rea Vaya will be operating the service to transport fans from its stations along the Rea Vaya route, pick up and drop off at the ORLANDO Stadium. The frequency of the service will be stepped up from the normal service to 5 minutes; from Thokoza Park and from Ellis Park at 12:00. This service will be for both normal commuters and fans. Fans will also be pick up and dropped off at the Soccer City station along the Soweto Highway.

Types of service to be provided

 A normal service along the Rea Vaya route picking up normal commuters and fans will be operated.

Fans will only be dropped at Rea Vaya stations along the BRT route.

NB: Last bus times are estimates which depend on the time the match finishes and the level of congestion along the route.

Fare collection

Single trip cards  - R25.00/ Double trip cards - R37.00

Normal distance based smart cards will also be used as means of payment to and from the soccer match.

Gautrain Shuttle service

Minibus shuttle service will be available @ Gautrain Park Station to Orlando Stadium.

Starting operating  time 12 clock

Return trip will cost R40

Last shuttle before the kick-off  - 14:30
