The
main reason why Orlando Pirates is doing very well in the 2013 CAF Champions
League is because the players like Benni McCarthy, Onyekachi Okonkwo and
Takesure Chinyama have certain goals for themselves and their team.
McCarthy
for example has stated 1 of that of the reasons why he decided to join Pirates
is because he wanted to become the first footballer in history to win 2
different Club Continental Competitions (UEFA Champions League and CAF
Champions League).
Okonkwo
wants to impress the Nigerian national team selectors, Collins Mbesuma wants to
win the CAF Champions League as he has already won Africa Cup of Nations 2012
with Zambia (some of his national team teammates who play for TP Mazembe have
already done so) and lastly Chinyama wants to be regain his place in the
Zimbabwean national team.
As
for the rest of the guys who have been there in the last 2 seasons like Senzo
Meyiwa, Andile Jali, Lucky Lekgwathi, Happy Jele, Oupa Manyisa, Daine Klate
etc, they want to dominate Africa as they have already dominated South Africa
football with Pirates and adding the second star to the club jersey by winning
CAF Champions League is their target and going down in history as the greatest
Pirates team ever.
I
disagree with those who say Coach Roger de Sa is the one who should take the
credit for the impressive run, the group of players are hungry for African
success.
