adidas,
the leading global football brand, today launched the newly designed Orlando
Pirates Home and Away jerseys for the 2012/2013.
The
range consists of two new designs: a Home Jersey (white and black) and an Away
Jersey (Red).
“Whilst
our focus is always on providing for the future, it is equally important that
we look to commemorate our long and rich heritage.
“In
keeping with our 75 year celebration theme, we have decided once again to tap
into our history books to draw inspiration from kits of yesteryear. The white
top, black pants and white socks combination has been used many times before at
the club, such as in the 60s but more recently in 1995 and 1996 when we won the
African Champions Cup and Super Cup,” said Orlando Pirates Public Relations
Manager, Mickey Modisane.
The
jersey, designed and manufactured by adidas, also features innovative
ClimaCool® technology.
“ClimaCool®
is an adidas patented combination of performance fabrics consisting of open
mesh and ventilation channels which keeps cool air flowing in and heat and
sweat flowing out. It allows athletes to stay dry and comfortable and perform
at their peak. With ClimaCool® apparel, athletes can keep their focus right
where it needs to be - on the game” says Sangiorgo Gian-Paulo, adidas Category
Manager for Football and Team Sports.
The
players will wear the 2009/2010 Home jersey for the first time in the Carling
Cup which takes place on the 28th of July at FNB Stadium. Jerseys will be
available at adidas Concept Stores and selected retail outlets from this
weekend.
