Can Ted win his first game as Downs coach?

Siyabulela
Ted Dumitru, I hope that we win all the remaining matches. I’m tired of this (winning this game and loosing the next game).

Thomas
Neil Tovey! Neil Tovey! I wanted Neil Tovey to be the new coach at Mamelodi Sundowns! However, the President decided to go for Ted. I’m not that happy, but let’s hope Ted brings the glory days back at the Brazilian camp!

Mandla
Bafana ba style! I’m confident that Ted will bring a smile in my face when we play against Platinum Stars. This will be a revenge game and I want us to win this game 3-0 or more to show that we are back.

Thabiso
Ted has always being my number 1 coach and I wish him all the luck. It’s going to be a very tough one for him to bring back the smiles. Many of my friends are angry and still angry. Let’s hope Ted is the right man we need at the moment……

Stephens
I THINK DA FOREIGN COACHES ARE JUST HERE FOR DA MONEY!

Madziva
From now on until the end of the season we are going to win all the games! Will that makes us champions?

Nzama
Ted, you must win all our left games, i mean all. Otherwise you "gone", not to the technical team but out of Mamelodi Sundowns. Good Luck!

Sellnick
Thanks to Mr. Motsepe for hearing our cries, I hope Ted doesn't snub Moriri like he did when he took over at Bafana x2 and Moriri was the top goal scorer yet he left him behind. I'm positive that we'll do better next season, it's just SAD to finish the season trophyless though, and it’s so unlike us. Thanks for nothing Michel...

We need to focus on young players

The reason for Bafana Bafana's playing is that the team doesn’t gell together. If we look at our team of 96 with Doctor Khumalo, Mark Fish and Lucas Radebe and compare with the current team there is no doubt who the better side is.

Though the current team has the same amount of talent with players like McCarthy and Pienaar playing in the English Premier League. What we need is a local Coach such as Jomo Sono, Clive Barker or even Gordon Igesund to help get the team playing and working together properly.

One thing that I have noticed about South Africa and other African teams for that matter is we don’t play organized soccer. We don’t switch play we just play small passes which ends up making the whole game get played in the centre.

Egypt is a fine example of a team that does in fact play organized European style football. We need a manager that will play our youth players and make a good mix of experience and youth to play in 2010.

We must realise that players like McCarthy and Zuma will be old by 2010 and we need to focus on players like Bernard Parker and Bryce Moon etc... 2010 captain should NOT be Aaron Mokoena. We should use someone like Teko Modise.

Even though we do not always win I will always support my country!
BAFANA BAFANA TILL I DIE!

ps: the name "Bafana" should not change...they are our boys!!

Writing by Essop-Cachalia

Which Players should represent us in 2010?

I know you might think that I dont know anything about soccer because I think Teko Modise is a striker, but the way he links up with our worlds best striker Bennie is outstanding to see!!!

With our powerful strikeforce and strong defence + controlling midfield we will definetely win the World Cup. We just need to stay focus and not loose our coach which will bring our side down!!!

Bafana Bafana Till I die!!!!! Cape Town Spirit!!!!

DR'S ART: WHO'S FAULT IS IT?

Coaches come and go, players come and go. Indeed Henri Michel is gone! Any player following him? That’s a million dollar question but the answer is simple, few players will bust the dust (in simple English few players will leave).

What makes Coaches get fired? Result, result, result and result (read carefully I didn’t say resign). This article is not about Michel only but all Coaches, it just that I will use Michel because he is the latest victim of unemployment.

DR: He is fired hahahahaha.
Nurse: That’s not funny DR, why are you laughing at Michel?
DR: I've been in pain for weeks nurse - can’t I enjoy this moment, you know this season we won’t celebrate a Cup victory so is better to laugh at Michel.
Nurse: That’s unlike you. You always support Coaches why not Michel?
DR: Nurse indeed I support my Coaches, but if the Coach is discouraging players what should I do?
Nurse: What are you talking about?
DR: Are you that forgetful? I mean all people heard Michel saying his players are average and he was told otherwise. When Mamelodi Sundowns win the players are improving, when Sundowns lose its back to average. Recently when Sundowns lost to Bay United Michel said, "When I said my players are average people said this man doesn’t know what he is talking about". So Nurse you will understand why I’m laughing.") Ohh sorry back to the main story...

Some supporters say we must also blame players, in some stance yes, but not always the Coach is always to blame. Why? The Coach select his 18 players every game, the coach select starting eleven every game. The Coach makes tactics or plans every game. Do you get me? Yes... No… not sure?????

Ok, when a Coach select players (game plan and tactics) he makes sure that these players (game plan and tactics) will make him (Coach) a winner. If they don’t win surely it means he was wrong.

Back to Michel - Michel it was not nice having you, but I did learn something from you. What is it that I learn from Michel ........ I forgot but I think I’ve learned something from you, OK Michel truly speaking I didn’t learn a thing so go back to France and learn more so that when you come back we (South African) can learn something until then Good bye!

Ohhhh I nearly forget when or if you come back I hope you come back as Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates or any other team expect Mamelodi Sundowns… please we had enough.

Remember it's only my view! If you have something on the contrary, let me know at doctor.diskioff@gmail.com or proffesor.khumalo.diskioff@gmail.com

Michel was in Mzansi for the moola

Henri Michel was here for the money and he got away with it, Mamelodi Sundowns was known for their passing, carpet football, biano and shoe shine. The team won so many trophies using the same style, but the former Sundowns coach wanted to teach the players a new different roles.

Maybe the organizational culture and vision was not clearly outlined to the French speaking Michel. His philosophy was just way different to that of Sundown culture.

The coach played a very frustrating system for the supporters and by the look of thing, Sundowns players could not understand as it was evident that they were lost, the new trick to the old carpet football dogs was just a mission impossible.

Players were shuffled, Sundowns wingers (Dillon Shepherd, Josta Dladla and Mpho Tshabangu) were sold to other team (management fault). Player were played at the wrong positions Vuyo Mere was playing as a left wing leaving the natural left footed defender on the bench. Koketso “Keksmaan” Mmotong was left on the sidelines even though the team needed a right winger.

Soccer players are not robots, they cannot be moved around in all the direction and expect them to do well. So the couches should make use of that phrase (you can’t teach an old dog new tricks) or they will simply get fired. I have never seen a defensive Sudowns in the history of the team.

Professionalism
Some of you will argue and use “professional” as an excuse to punish the players. Yes they are professional but they cannot operate like robots, I mean if a player is defending today and next game is a target man means there is a problem within the coaching department, its either too arrogant or has no respect for the players.

On the same note of professionalism: PSL soccer players are all pros and should act as pros. My friend received an inbox message from Mogogi Gagonamong! The Botswana international was telling him not to write nonsense on his facebook wall, this happened after Santos got a soccer lesson from Sundowns.

I believe that he is a great defender for Santos. Ok the argument started when my friend said Surprise Moriri was better that him on that day because he even scored the goal. This did not go down well with Mogogi who wrote a message to my friend, its pity some of the things that he said are not printable.

My take on this is that this guy must take critics like a professional if he claims to be one. You can be good but not all of us will praise you. Players must learn to take critics in positively and build themselves from there but if you entertain such critics its shows how professional you are it raises questions if you really deserve to play for a professional team.

I hope he reads this and start acting like a professional.

South Africans Feeling Neglected During Cup Run-Up?

I found this interesting article from the South African Times and wanted to pass it along. It's a reader letter describing the frustrating some people in South Africa feel during the run up to the 2010 World Cup next summer.

Apparently, some residents are feeling excluded from the good will the organizers are trying to foster. Is the World Cup 'only for urban areas and foreign nations' as the article suggests? Or have the organizers done a good job in not only enlisting the help of locals, but also reaching out to them and making them feel a part of the process?

Here's the article. Please tell me what you think.
THE 2010 World Cup tournament that will be hosted in our country seems to be focused more on foreign visitors than on South Africans. — MK Marumo, by e-mail

The local organising committee and Fifa have excluded citizens of the host country simply by the way in which tickets for the tournament can be purchased.

Because South Africa is still developing economically and socially, we should understand that half of our citizens have never used the Internet. This technological, sophisticated approach has effectively closed the door to millions in the country.

Lack of promotion and advertising of the tournament across the nation — mostly in rural areas — has proved that the 2010 World Cup is only for urban areas and foreign nations.

Since the tournament is left with hundreds of days to take place, many can’t even say when the starting date of the event is — not only of the World Cup, but also of the Confederations Cup.

By now the feeling and the atmosphere of World Cup should be everywhere, but it is hard to even come across a billboard or posters promoting the event. The atmosphere is far from reaching many in the country.

The LOC has been encouraging citizens to buy tickets to support our team, but the process of acquiring a ticket has discouraged many supporters.

Irvin Khoza and Danny Jordaan will be running around telling the media that the country is ready to host 2010 and that the tickets are sold out — but the mood and the vibe will not approach real enthusiasm for the tournament.

The 2010 World Cup tournament is going to take place in South Africa and all its citizens — rural and urban — should be made to feel a part of it. So the LOC must wake up and promote 2010 all over the country, not only in metro cities.

MMG (Muhsin Must Go)!!!

Mamelodi Sundown coach, Henri Michel, was the first coach from the BIG THREE teams (Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns) to be fired yesterday by the President, Mr. Patrice Motsepe, after poor results.

The BIG question now is who is NEXT – Chiefs or Pirates?
Amakhosi coach Muhsin ErtuÄŸral looks like he might be the next candidate to follow Frenchman Michel as Chiefs supporters are angry after their shocking defeat in the Nedbank Cup last 16 in the hands of Pretoria University.

Here are some of the pointers why “Muhsin Must Go” says some of the Kaizer Chiefs supporters in the new FACEBOOK Group that was open recently:

Administrator: To all Kaizer Chiefs Football Club supporters like me who are tired with coach Muhsin ErtuÄŸral, this is our platform to get rid of the coach, let's make sure his contract is not renewed for next season. There's lots of facts to mention proving that he is wasting lots of talent at Kaizer Chiefs. I say MMG (Muhsin Must Go), who's with me?

Lebo
- How do you let striker of Mabhudi Khenyeza's calibre go?
- In exchange of Khenyeza we got Dominic Isaacs who is injured.
- How on earth do you let Gert Schalkwyk leave, for goodness sake the boy was on top form before was let go, he is still on top form at Celtic.
- What happened to the introduction of youth, the promising George Lebese or Michael Nkambule?
- You let a defender like Fabian McCarthy go and keep bo Valery Nahayo, Mokete Tsotetsi... look at our defence record this season.

I just feel like crying by just thinking of how Muhsin is plotting the downfall of the once mighty Amakhosi!

Clement
Muhsin must stop going to Deviton to find players, it is a well known fact that Deviton players like to party and going missing. I can name few; Jabu Pule (Mahlangu), Thabiso "Skappie" Malatsie, Junior Khanye and Chiner.

Fanelekile
Muhsin must leave us in peace!

Thabo
Muhsin Must Go... actually Muhsin Must GO wit immediate effect!

Lerato
What da hell??? 4-3 to a varsity team? Nee man!!!

Maxhosa
I was one of the few who thought that he deserves to be given a chance but now I have changed my tune he has to go other wise the team will be fighting relegations next season.

The GROUP now has 50 members who are planning to make sure the Turkish football (soccer) coach returns to Turkey.

WHAT IS YOUR TAKE… should Mushin ErtuÄŸral be fired?

Mamelodi Sundowns and Henri Michel part ways amicably

Mamelodi Sundowns announced today that a gentleman’s agreement was concluded with Henri Michel in terms of which his services as head coach will come to an end.

The President of Mamelodi Sundowns Mr. Patrice Motsepe said,” I want to thank Henri Michel for the commitment and loyalty he showed to Sundowns whilst employed as its head coach.

Henri Michel made a huge contribution to the standard and quality of football at Sundowns and in South Africa. We wish him all of the very best in his future endeavours and he will continue to be part of the Sundowns family.”

The board of Mamelodi Sundowns has appointed Ted Dumitru as caretaker coach until the end of the season. He will be assisted by Brian Baloyi and Michael Manzini as player/assistant coaches.

Mr. Patrice Motsepe emphasized that at the end of the season Ted Dumitru will go back to continue with the good work that he has been doing at the Youth Academy.

A committee of the board of Mamelodi Sundowns, assisted by Ted Dumitru and Trott Moloto will be interviewing prospective candidates to be employed as head coach for the 2009/2010 season.

Mahlatse Mphahlele who is the Head of Communications at Mamelodi Sundowns said that further announcements in this regard will be made in due course.

Fans set to force Michel out?

Mamelodi Sundowns supporters illustrated they have had enough of coach Henri Michel and it seems the feeling is mutual from the Frenchman.

The former Les Bleus mentor had to be escorted by riot police in an armoured vehicle following the Brazilians' 1-0 extra-time defeat to Platinum Stars in the second round of the Nedbank Cup.

Sunday's loss was preceded by a 4-1 rout at the hands of their Tshwane rivals and league-leaders SuperSport United, leading the Downs faithful to chant: "Michel must go."

The swarm of fans also tried to break down the security gate at Atteridgeville's Super Stadium during the cup encounter and attempted to mob Michel following the final whistle.

Sources claim Sundowns owner Patrice Motsepe, who helped calm the troublesome crowd, is set to meet with the 61-year-old to discuss his possible departure from the club.

One informant told SAPA: "From what we heard Michel will be on the first plane out of Johannesburg. There is no way he can continue with Sundowns after the way the fans reacted. He is finished at Sundowns."

The Brazilians are expected to release a statement today (Monday) regarding Michel's position at the club.

Are Sundowns becomin' everyone’s bread?

Mamelodi Sundowns followers (fans) are calling on club boss Mr. Patrice Motsepe to bring back former Kaizer Chiefs defender Neil Tovey as the head coach of the Brazilians.

They want Tovey to replace the Frenchman, Henri Michel, who had to be escorted from Super Stadium by police following their 1-0 Nedbank Cup defeat to Platinum Stars on Sunday.

Who is Neil Tovey?
Tovey is a former Mzansi footballer and now working as the assistant coach at AmaZulu F.C. He is a former captain of Bafana Bafana, and in 1996 became the first white player to raise the African Cup of Nations trophy. In total he won 52 caps for the national side without scoring a goal.

He played for the mighty Amakhosi (Kaizer Chiefs) becoming a very important player for the club. He has set several records for the club, including most capped player and most starts in a season: 52 in the 1992 season.

Following retirement, Tovey went into management. He and Miguel Gamondi were appointed co-coaches of Sundowns and guided the club to the Premier Soccer League title in 2006, only to be axed when the Pretoria club made a faltering start to their defence.

NEDBANK CUP bombshell!

Being a Pirates supporter!

Patience is an understatement...

You travel with them wherever they go, you attend all their home games.
You jump, scream, sing, dance for 3 or more hours and never have a voice on a Sunday morning ...FOR WHAT?

You wear black, white and red wherever you go - everyday!

You promote, advertise & sell Pirates to the people.
You have great united bunch of supporters that have so much love to give.

You have Pirates on your bed, clothes, wall, floor, curtains, cups, plates ...FOR WHAT?
You defend your team's losses and draws, you get used to being laughed at every Monday.
You make yourself a fool, knowingly.

You have faith every time there's a Cup competition but all you end up getting is a Charity Cup!
When your team wins one game, you celebrate for 5 weeks! ...FOR WHAT?

I love my team with all my heart but when will I be given reason to celebrate?
When will the dust b dusted off our cabinet?
When will we lift up a trophy?

We buy players, sell players, change coaches luck we change underwear ...KENG?
I’m still a PATIENT supporter and I'll always love my team.

I'm still going to attend all their games even though I know I’m not always going to be happy!
Whether they decide to win or loose the league, I’m still going to be right behind my boys.

I’ll support Bucs till I die...
ONCE AND ALWAYS A PIRATE!

Biggest loser SA

The contest for the biggest loser was so unexpected but it proved to be time to see as to who the biggest loser was in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). It was and is a difficult one to say as to who won the contest.

First it was Mr. Muhsin ErtuÄŸral who lost to the students and a second division team nogal. This was a great show for Mr. ErtuÄŸral and he could not have performed better.

More so because He distanced himself from the loss, and squarely blaming the players for it. I have never been his fan and who is to blame for all the four goals rather than him, after He destroyed the best defence that was at Kaizer Chiefs before He came back?

Then the Happy People (Orlando Pirates). Are they still happy? Well they did not look that happy when the ball rettled the net for the second goal, sending them out of the Nedbank Cup. The fact that this seemed the only cup the mighty Bucs could take to the rusty cabin, that made it even worse.

Most of the Sea Robbers still believe, for some reason, this might be a blessing in disguise since they will now focus on the Pretoria bound League trophy. Well good luck to the Ghost on that mission impossible, and to them, thanks for the great performance in the biggest loser SA.

When I had by far given Kaizer Chiefs Gold for their great show the night before, Mamelodi Sundowns came and stole it from them. It was a close contest though. It was only after the 120th minute when the supporters started chanting "Michel should go", that the biggest loser started to show where it will go.

But the major aspect that crowned the Sundowns team as a gold winners for the Biggest loser SA 2009 contest, was when the President addressed the Supporters with a short speech that went like" Re a di bona dilo tse di etsahalang mo setlhopheng, emelang Nna lona, ke tla dira kitsiso".

Directly translated thus: We see the things that are happening in the team, wait for me, I will make an anouncent.

It was very clear that the President was not happy and had made up his mind about the coach. That said, well done to the Sundowns family for winning the Biggest loser SA 2009 contest, you truly deserve it. For Amakhosi, all they need to do is to keep the current head Coach a bit longer, and they sure to cash in for the Biggest looser SA 2010.

All what Mushin did this weekend was to seal his own fate, so the hunt for the Coaches to coach the two teams, namely Chiefs and Sundowns starts today. I wish all the South African born Coaches good luck with their applications, albeit they will be head hunted as we know.

I am off to Pretoria University to register my Sports Management course.

Celtic game is ours mabhakaniya

I’m not too focused on this game! Orlando Pirates must field a B-side as its going to be a waste of time for us to field Teko Modise, Katlego Mashego, Siphelele Mthembu, Dikgang_Mabalane, and Lucas Thwala.

Let’s give Lebohang Mokoena, Bennett Chenene, Joseph Makhanya, Thembile Kanono and Gilbert Mushangazhike a run just to get them fit and their confidence back when ‘we’ win the game.

Mr. Krol look at what happed to other teams in the PSL that overplayed their players. We have quality players who are hungry to play. So please General Commander KROL feature Teko and co in our league when we make it three in a row against Bloemfontein Celtic.

I know we’ll be singing 2 by 2 (Rhythmic Elements)… 2-0 to the Mighty Bucs after the game. Mr. Krol please also play Senzo Meyiwa… he needs a run as well. Up the Bucs!

Celtic will win nomakanjani

Saturday night we are winning NOMAKANJANI!!!! Can’t believe Mamelodi Sundowns was destroyed 4-1 by Supersport United yesterday!!!

Yooooh dat game was a pleasure to watch... So maBhakabhaka (Orlando Pirates) WATCH OUT! Siwelele is coming to make a point and we are going to do a double.

First in the Nedbank Cup tomorrow and on the third of April when we meet in the Absa Premier League - Its time for Siwelele to show their class. Coach Owen Da Gama is doing a great job and we know under Bloemfontein Celtic will NEVER play in the First Division!

Good luck to our players and I hope they’ll make us proud tomorrow as well. The Stadium will be GREEN and WHITE! Nedbank Cup ke ya rona!!!!

Lets teach the students diski

Tomorrow Kaizer Chiefs is up against PRETORIA UNIVERSITY. So what I can say is they r da students nd we are da lectures (catch my drift).

Lectures teaches students, just like we did with WITS. I just hope nd wish that we teach them a gud lesson.

No need to punish ur students, just make them understand and respect u as a lecturer. So in simple terms, we have to beat PRETORIA UNIVERSITY tomorrow. NOMA KANJANE!!!!! AMAKHOSI 4 NEDBANK CUP.

Michel is not the problem

I don't think the Mamelodi Sundowns Coach is the problem... Henri Michel is a world class coach and has done well so far.

He took the team from 13 to 2 on the log in 5 weeks and we still have an outside chance of winning the league.

I am sure that communication is the biggest weakness between him and the players and the sooner he learns english the better.

Remember Viktor Bondarenko? When he first came to Orlando Pirates he spoke no English, but signs of brilliance were there in Pirates he left and when he came back Pirates were untouchable because he polished his English and could communicate his message.

Sundowns Excuse for Last Night

Apparently this is the reason why Mamelodi Sundowns lost!

Luminaries laud Col (Dr.) Khoza

Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza was on Wednesday honoured with an inauguration as the newly appointed Honorary Colonel of Logistic Division of the South African national Defence Force (SANDF).

The ceremony, which was preceded by a military parade, took place at the DOD Logistic Support Formation at the army's base in Pretoria.

Below is what some of those present had to say about Colonel (Dr.) Irvin Khoza's appointment:

Tokyo Sexwale - Hon Col SA Air Force and ANC NEC member
The highest honour that your country can give you is to bestow a uniform on you. I come a long way with Col. Khoza and I know the passion and dedication that he has for this country. We have served together in a number of areas from business to the 2006 World Cup Bid Committee and now the 2010 LOC organising the 2010 FIFA World Cup. We have in these endevours worked closely with Nelson Mandela - from whom we received a lot of inspiration. The Defence Force has shown, through this effort that the army is for the people and it is an institution that serves the country.

Prof. R. Schloss - COO PSL
This is a well deserved honour in recognition of the service that he has given to football. Finally he gets the recognition for the efforts and dedication that he has given to the country. It is also an honour for the game in general that one of its leaders is given this stature.

Dr Leepile Taunyane - Life President PSL
It is indeed a great honour for him and for football in the country. I congragulate the Defence Force for selecting a cvilian for such an honorary position - this can only build closer ties between the army and society in general.

Ronnie Ntuli - Chairman National Empowerment Fund
It is the mark of the outstanding work that he has done over the years. I think that the parralel analogy he made between sport and the army in terms of discipline, patriotism and character was impressive. These are the values that we, as young South Africans need to reinculcate back in our psyche. On a personal level I think he has done an incredible job. It was a great ocaassion for a great purpose.

Stan 'Screamer' Tshabalala - SA Football Association (SAFA)
"This is the result of hard work and selflessnes over the years. He has done a lot for football and for South Africa. I am happy for him and we support him in his endevour to assist the army's football teams as well.

Pretoria derby splits Soweto

Pirates back Downs, Chiefs root for United

It might be called the battle for Pretoria, but its spoils – regardless of the result – are more likely to be enjoyed in Soweto than in the capital city.

Super Stadium will be the venue for the battle on Thursday in which 8000 more seats – they were previously unavailable – have been made available to the public.

According to PSL general manager Andile Ace Ncobo, this Category-A battle has been given the go-ahead by the engineer in charge of the stadium. He declared the seats safe, raising the capacity to 30000.

Ncobo and Downs media manager Mahlatse Mphahlele said there will be no problem with crowd control, though it will be difficult to estimate the number of fans who will arrive at the stadium.

“I have been informed that the stand has been approved and a safety licence was issued. We are confident that there will be no safety issue,” said Ncobo.

This is one of those matches whose result will go a long way in determining who gets their hands on the R10million league championship prize at the end of the season. There is little doubt that the part of Soweto whose blood is black and white will be rooting for Sundowns to emerge winners in this tussle.

With 43 points and second on the log, Bucs are three points behind United and the Soweto side, who have hit their straps, are well placed to benefit in the event of Gavin Hunt’s team stumbling.

In contrast, a win for United will be preferable for Amakhosi, as they will then stay in third place with 40 points, and in touch with the leaders.

Amakhosi are eyeing a prime spot for themselves by the time May 9 arrives, particularly as a ban placed on them by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has been lifted.

Having mauled each other in the MTN 8 Cup in an intense clash, Downs and United’s first round match ended in an anti- climactic 1-all draw.

This time, the gloves will be off and a lot is at stake for both Hunt and Downs coach Henri Michel, who – after a 3-0 win in Mauritius – seems to now be on the same page as his players.

Is this the return of Torrealba?

José Torrealba (Kazier Chiefs striker) is from Venezuela. He joined South African Premier Soccer League club Kaizer Chiefs in July 2008. He is nicknamed "El Buda". He made his national team debut in a friendly match against Ecuador on August 17, 2005. He was also a participant at the 2007 Copa America.

What a well taken goal by José Torrealba in the game against WITS... I hope he understands at times we put pressure on him because we know that he's capable of scoring great goals like that one... I hope that was his turning point... I WISH HIM GOOD LUCK!

Mike
I would like to say big ups to our striker Mr. Jose. You struggled to get goals this season, but I’m sure once our Coach Muhsin ErtuÄŸral is given the players he wants we will see you score more goals. I’m sure next season you will be one of the top scorers. Just keep your head up baba!

Thabiso
Hola Amakhosi Hola! It’s hard, but we are trying. However, I’m not happy with the chopping and changing of Coaches/Players… it wont work for us especially at this time. I really do think our boys and technical team are doing everything to make us win the league. Let’s support dem even if they play bad. I will also like to say THANK YOU to José Torrealba for breaking his duck. Its hard to be a striker as u become enemy number 1 if u dont score.

Tshepo
Thank you José Torrealba! Everyone at Chiefs is doing a great job to keep the team going wheather we loose or win. That why the call it a game, win or loose and the way it is.

Daniel
I know when we bought José Torrealba we bought a quality striker. We only need suppliers who will work hard to give our strikers quality crosses. Kaizer Junior and Torrealba are my two top strikers at Chiefs.

Spider
People must not jump the gun! OK Torrealba scored! But the guy I think is better as the third striker. Why? He is good at those one-two touches. Ask Gert! We need to buy a new striker and get rid of Zito (not quality). Imagine two top strikers and with Torrealba coming deep! That is a killa combo upfront for Amakhosi.

Lebo
Ayeye! Ayeye! Shapa Mr. Venezuela shapa! Thank you for the goal. Mr. Roger Desa must relax and go back to the drawing board. Stop blaming the referees!

Thabang
I'm not Muhsin supporter or will be, but Kaizer Chiefs played better at the back with the new guy! Never seen the BACK like this since day 1. Big Ups to Mushin for bringing Jeffrey Ntuka and Big Ups to Torrealba for scoring. It shows that when we put pressure on him he will deliver for the team and make us happy.

Lerato
Well done AMAKHOSI, and our goal scorers - Torrealba and Nale. Good luck to the next game: NEDBANK CUP: KAIZER CHIEFS vs. PTA UNIVERSITY. I want us to show the small boys how the glamour boys play FOOTBALL. Let’s make this a practice match. KHOSI 4 LIFE!

Sipho
Torrealba, a great player, but needs to loose some weight and gain a faster pace. Otherwise, well done MaKhosi, I have faith in u guys & I hope we sweep the remaining trophies....

Danny Jordaan: Teams Will Be Safe in South Africa

Safety has been a hot button issue when discussing the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Will fans be safe? Will the squads coming over be safe? South Africa has a high crime rate and steps have been taken to remedy the situation, such as training new officers and implementing sweeping safety measures.

Today, chief executive officer of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa Danny Jordaan reiterated that there will not be a single security breach or attack on any of the teams or their officials taking part in the tournament come next summer.

Speaking in London in the wake of heightened concern following the ambush in Pakistan of Sri Lanka's cricket team last week, the man who masterminded South Africa's successful bid said, "We've already had our security people working at the Germany World Cup, the Euro 2008 final and the Beijing Olympics.

"But over and above that we will have 41,000 extra police and, in total, 86,000 additional personnel on duty during the World Cup. There will be water cannons, police helicopters, surveillance cameras and regular dry runs of security in each of our host cities because this is an important issue for us."

Jordaan also pointed to South Africa's record of hosting major sporting events since independence in 1994. "If you look at our event experience we've hosted many including the rugby World Cup in 1995, the 2003 cricket World Cup and the Twenty20 World Cup in 2007. We have [teams] in and out of the country all the time — this year we have the British Lions tour and the Confederations Cup.

"There is societal crime and event security — these are two separate issues. The way to secure the event is to collect the maximum information. I know when the team is arriving, when it is training, where it is playing and I know when the fans are coming. If I have 100% of this information I can tell I can a guarantee it will be 100% safe. Our security plan has been tested over 15 years and from 22 major events there has not been a single security issue."

Siwelele have to work even harder

I am one who always sees a Cup half full rather than half empty. I have always strongly believed we will avoid the axe. I still know we will, but not if we do not pull our socks and be consistent.

I wonder if people know what’s like to be a Bloemfontein Celtic fan these days. Well it’s a feeling that most fans would not know about but the tension is too much. We do enjoy it when the boys win and we will forever support them, but I tell you I feel the panic buttons going soon.

We do not need more pressure than the one we have now, and we soon need to move from this position. Our games are must wins and there are not much games remaining.

The events at the stadium during the Golden Arrows game are truly regrettable and we would like to urge our fans to come early to the stadium. I personally do not know the details pertaining to the turn of events, but I would strongly recommend that it be investigated and we find a remedy to such events.

We would not like to see such things, more so when we preparing for the 2010 World Cup.

Let’s work harder Masele.

Pirates hopes raised, and Pirates faithful hopes...

Once upon a time there was a very respectable Coach at a team called Orlando Pirates FC. This Coach brought to the team what is called Total Football in Holland. Pirates were a force to reckon with.

The lads then did not just win games, they played football that most Coaches feared. For some reason most people thought the team will bring some silverware to the Ghost grave. Kaizer Chiefs snapped it away at the last minute.

The Pirates faithfuls hopes were dashed, leaving them with only tears and nothing more to show. More so that they lost it to Chips, as they prefer to call the Naturena side.

Then the next season. The same fighting spirit and good football prevailed. The boys kept the stands full of smiles and again, hope for the silverware was raised. It all seemed possible up until the last game. Then the same Chiefs stole it from them.

The Pirates faithfuls hopes were dashed, yet again, leaving them with only tears and nothing more to show. More so that they lost it to Chips, yet again, as they still prefer to call the Naturena side.

Now recently the team has started to show the glimpses of the Papic magic, and yet again the Pirates faithfuls hopes seem to have been raised. Most people are sure the boys will deliver as Miss K told me this morning.

It’s only a matter of time that we get to see what happens to the Pirates faithfuls hope this time around, and I hope and pray they are not dashed, not again, just for the sake of all the fans that for the past couple of years have only the Moqhaka Cup and Charity Spectacular to show.

Lovers Mohlala at Pirates

Well I have been away for a while and it gave me sometime to go see the grassroots football at home. It is good to see the youngsters keeping the ball rolling on the dusty and sometimes muddy grounds.

It was more interesting to see Lovers as well, playing with the young ones, and making sure he still keeps fit. The very bulky looking Mohlala was playing for a team frong Legonyane called Pirates.

The former under 23 star from Klipvoorstad still looked like there is something remaining in him to offer to football with his long throws, albeit at that level. Him being there offers hopes for the young ones, that he might inform some scouts of the talent that side of town we can offer to the bigger league.

I sure saw some brilliant finishing that our top strikers in the PSL are lacking, so our so called big teams should go to the rural areas to seek talent and stop flocking African countries for the countless flops that are overcrowding our shores.

How on earth can CELTIC be relegated?

Well I believe any Coach in South Africa would love to have the backing of SUPPORTERS like Bloemfontein Celtic, and to acknowledge it like Owen Da Gama does on many occasions, shows how much he values the SUPPORTERS support.

And with that kind of support how on earth can CELTIC be relegated? If we win all our remaining homes games, and drew and win some of the away ones we will surely be in the Premier Soccer League next season.

Can anybody inform me as to how many games we will have to do without the WONDERFULL performances from Mario Booysen. DANKIE SON!

Can Bay United survive relegation?

Bay United Football Club is the top professional football club in Port Elizabeth. The club is affiliated with the National Soccer League (NSL) and is the flagship football club of the Eastern Cape.

The club came into existence in 2006 when the franchise of struggling National First Division club Maritzburg United was purchased by Volkswagen South Africa and relocated to Nelson Mandela Bay. After the 2006-07 season, Sipho Pityana purchased the club from VWSA.

The club is currently managed by Khabo Zondo, and captained by Duran Francis. Their home ground is The EPRU Stadium in Humewood Port Elizabeth, where they can be seen playing in Red and White Puma Kit or their away strip of Blue and White.

George
Only 5 games to go. This means we need to WIN all of dem and hope that Bloemfontein Celtic, Maritzburg United, Thanda Royal Zulu and Platinum Stars drop points. Its time for these players to make PE and the rest of the Eastern Cape proud!

Sisanda
Well done Bay boys for winning in the Nedbank Cup. Let’s put on this kind of performance in the Premier League. We want u guys to remain in PSL and I want another double against Mamelodi Sundowsns next season.

Shakes
Three in a row against da Brazilians!!!!! But all of that will be gone as we will be playing in the FIRST DIVISION! I blame poor management.

Umar
Sup Bay fans I just wanna say the new Bay manager is doing a crap job. We sitting in the relegation zone and we can’t get out… cum on… how can Bay let the manager that got them into the PSL go?

Luthando
I’m hurt so I won’t comment on the LEAGUE gents.

Let’s have the biggest crowd of Fire Lighters (Umlilo supporters) on the 21st of March in our Nedbank Cup. We mustn’t allow Black Leopards to dominate us on the stands. Your support will make a BIG difference. UMLILO!! Let’s keep the fire burning.

Thando
Mr. Khabo Zondo – this is my formations. I think you must use them for us to survive relegation.

3-5-2, 4-4-2, 3-3-4 - you choose the one you like! We pray for the Lord's Guidance on the next upcoming fixtures in the league. Umlilo will keep on burning!!!

Maz
I think we as the Bay United fans need to petition against this poor performances by the players. They make us look like a joke. U can’t even wear the Bay jersey with proud these days. Beating teams like Sundowns is good, but when the team fails to win against the teams with the same standard as us is a shame! Bayakwazi ukubulala ispirit sethu lamaplaya.

Mudege
Beating Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns was possibly the worst thing to have happened to us. Management possibly felt that we could now aim for higher than "just surviving" and the players just can't seem to get it together when playing similarly-matched opposition like Free State Stars and Platinum Stars.

But no matter what - never interfere. You appoint someone to do the job - let him do it and judge him by the goals that you set at the start of the season. Very disappointed. This will hurt us - we might have just condemned ourselves to NFD.

Pic of the Week: "Amabhakabhaka"

This was the Absa Premier League game between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns last week Wednesday!

Let’s Hope Amabhakabhaka can KEEP their cool if they WIN the Nedbank Cup or the Absa Premier League!

--------------------------------------------------------------

Busisiwe - Wat can I say!! Ruud u r really doing a gr8 job... and hey Teko & Mr Cellphone shud keep on practisin some more moves... Ayoba Bhakajuju Ayoba... I jst love this house of pain!

Lots of love my lovely Buccaneers!!!

DiskiBabe of the Week

Do you have the looks to appear in our DISKIBABE column? Or think you’ve got the guts and what it takes to be a DISKIBABE? And if you know someone you think could be our next DISKIBABE - let us know... and you will be rewarded: Check out our past DiskiBabes of the WEEK: http://diskibabes.blogspot.com/

Time to take ACTION!!

What can happen if these guys play with no fans on the stands? I think to indicate our dissatisfaction with Kaizer Chiefs performance, rather than booing the players; we just stay at home and leave the stadia stands empty until we are convinced with the performance.

That can teach them a lesson that we cannot watch a below-par performance. But when they start showing improvement we all come back in numbers and cheer them on so that they can feel their performances playing off.

It's like giving the car to a learner driver and let them drive themselves. They always drive safe knowing that their lives are at stake, but when the experienced driver is present they drive like amateurs. I say we take action!

Nedbank Cup 2009
Nedbank Cup is a South African club football (soccer) tournament. The knockout tournament, based on the English FA Cup format, carries a 'David versus Goliath' theme. The competition was sponsored by ABSA until 2007, after which Nedbank took over sponsorship.

The 16 Premier Soccer League clubs, 8 National First Division teams, as well as 8 teams from the amateur ranks compete for the prize money of R6 million. The winner also qualifies for the CAF Confederation Cup.

The teams are not seeded at any stage, and the first 16 sides drawn out of the hat receive a home-ground advantage. There are no longer any replays in the tournament, and any games which end in a draw after 90 minutes are subject to 30 minutes extra time followed by penalties if necessary.
