Poor planning cost Kaizer Chiefs against AS Vita Club

AS Vita Club 3-0 Kaizer Chiefs – I don’t buy this notion theory that Kaizer Chiefs lost because of fatigue, complacency or poor treatment in Kinshasa.

I will cite poor planning as justification of the defeat. Chiefs did not conduct adequate tactical research to ascertain the tactical and technical weaknesses and strength of AS Vita. The overconfidence killed them after four comfortable win home and away in the precious CAF Championship League games.

Gathering of internal information about the opponent is the main key for success. Chiefs undermined AS Vita after solitary goal win against Dynamos. They didn't care much to explore the weaknesses of the opponent. I wonder if they knew that Firmin Ndombe Mubele was the most effective striker for Dr Congo in the CHAN games.

Poor travelling also affected the team. Chiefs never had sufficient time to acclimatised to the weather in Kinshasa due to arriving within few days of the game.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) congested fixture also made it difficult for Chiefs to start the game afresh after exhausted their energy against Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town. They played two intensive games before AS Vita game.

Football is unpredictable and they can still bounce back to make the country proud by progressing to the group stages. They need the nation undivided support.

Nothing is impossible in football.
