All eyes will be on Orlando Pirates this Saturday, 2
November at Orlando Stadium as they lock horns with one of the African giants,
Al Ahly for the 2013 CAF Champions League 1st leg of the Final. This is arguably the most important club
football match in South Africa.
As a proud sponsor of CAF, Standard Bank will be moving
their consumers forward by connecting them with their passion point – the
beautiful game, football.
It has been a long road to the deciding match for the two
teams, with Orlando Pirates having already featured in 14 matches against sides
from Comoros Islands, Zambia, DR Congo, Congo, Egypt and Tunisia.
Their quest to add a second star to their badge and help
move South African football forward now comes down to a clash against the
current CAF Champions League holders, Al Ahly.
After signing an eight year deal with the Confederation
of African Football (CAF) in 2008Standard Bank secured sponsorship rights as
the Official Banking Partner to all CAF Competitions.
“We are delighted to have partnered with CAF as their
official banking partner, this partnership will not only help us reach our goal
of creating meaningful connections with our consumers, staff and stakeholders
but also continue to build the Standard Bank brand in the African continent.’’
Said Hazel Chimhandamba, Head of Group Sponsorship.“
Through this Standard Bank will set up a fan zone inside
the Orlando Stadium perimeter to provide a platform for interaction with the
fans.
The activation area will educate the football loving fans
and drive awareness around new products offered by Standard Bank.
Fans will be afforded an opportunity to have their
pictures taken with the former Orlando Pirates captain Edward Motale, a 1995
CAF Champions Cup winner and Standard Bank ambassador.
