Are you feeling the AFCON 2013?

South Africa is going to host 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 3 months time but I don't feel it. There is no vibe or any build up atmosphere towards this tournament. It’s either the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and South African Football Association (Safa) responsible for poor marketing.

 I haven't yet seen any billboard promoting this tournament. I am not certain if many South Africans are aware that we are hosting Africa Cup of Nations in Mzansi in 2013.

Personal, I think the 2010 World Cup excitement we had by then eclipsed the AFCON Mzansi 2013. I am not unpatriotic to African diski but the fact is our African football lacks proper marketing due to incompetence, directionless, visionless, toothless and aging CAF administrators under the leadership of the dictator Issa Hayatou (Confederation of African Football President) and his cronies.

The Mascot of the tournament (During 2010 World Cup, we had the famous Zakumi) hasn't been launch 3 months prior to the tournament and I’m not even sure if we have the tournament theme yet. If it is there already, surely is not famous.
