Komphela’s tactics were bad against Botswana on Saturday

Come, wozani, its post-mortem time... let's review Botswana's 1-1 win over South Africa... some will blame Teko Modise, some Itumeleng Khune, some will blame Mzikayise Mashaba or Katlego Mphela, but me, I didn’t fail mathematics at school, and the equation always had an answer which pointed to ONE common denominator, the coach, it’s his fault!

Firstly, Steve Komphela knew before most of us that the game is played at Mzamo's 5-a-side pitch, but what does he do? He packs the midfield, in the process exposing the likes of Punch (Masenamela) and Mashaba; the two gentlemen had terrible games thanks to the stupid approach.

It fails logic that you play in a small pitch, yet you pack your midfield, it makes things worse, Steven Pienaar and Siphiwe Tshabalala should have stayed wide, that would have eased space and opened gaps through the centre, Masenamela and (Anele) Ngcongca would have been able to take care of their primary defensive duties with forward arrays upfront, only when necessary, not the rubbish we witnessed.

Siyabonga Nomvete is always running; this game needed someone with a brain not speed, something the coach should have known.

In any case, Komphela tried to be Pitso Mosimane with his selection; he only succeeded in being worse and in the process proving us right that he's NOT a capable coach...
