The Eight Nations Tournament (CAF U-23
Championship) is a big tournament. It is time that we show our patriotism by
fully supporting the under 23s, however at times patriotism needs to be
instilled, in order to instill patriotism, our national broadcaster - South
African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) must ensure that they fully market this
kinds of tournaments to the South African public at large (i.e. white and black
/ rich and poor / five year olds / women etc).
It is of no
use for the young lions to be at war without the nation’s knowledge. The manner
in which our national teams are treated leaves much to be desired, especially
the manner in which their games are marketed to the public.
The SABC
must ensure that all the games in the Eight
Nations Tournament are broadcasted. For once South African Football
Association (SAFA) and SABC do your part.
We (South
Africans) hope that the issue of broadcasting of the national teams was
discussed at the highly publicized sports indaba.
