No use of boycotting Carling Black Label Cup

Written By Unknown on Thursday, May 26, 2011 | Thursday, May 26, 2011

Whether aggrieved supporters boycott this game or not, the fact is it will receive almost full capacity if not full. Not all decisions that are taken will favour all of us.

The fact is, money talks. When a company uses Premier Soccer League brand as a vehicle for its social responsibility without paying royalties to the brand, then business decisions need to be taken.

We called to vote for teams participating in the tournament and also paid to watch teams during the tournament. The money received from calls and gate taking were distributed to qualifying charities. Participating teams got a small slice, "appearance fee".

The company used PSL brand to gain free mileage because of the popularity of the sport and they didn't pay anything extra towards charities. If this is your organization, would you have continued with the previous arrangement?

My answer is no. We live in a commercialised world, it is cents that count and not emotions.

Mr. Dube you said a mouth full, you hit the cow and it's horns. Money decisions are no easy decisions, even when decisions have been made you still have the legal liabilities and that can threaten either side. We come a mighty long way, from playing for a case of beer and now millions. That is great growth as I can smell a billion rand sponsor not too far from here. I need to remind those always questioning the authourities that our gate fees or ticket prices are not up to FIFA standards. How about we pay like we are supposed, we must seek to be competative fans. What is wrong in matching or ticket fees to those of international standards. We cannot be crying poor till forever amen. This give me give me mentality must stop, when we do that our players value will sky rocket too. We can thus assemble the best players of Africa into one team within the PSL. England enjoys great soccer locally, they are not so much into national team. Their is globalisation and it markets very well, they assemble the very best across the whole wide world. Wherever you are if you are above the very best they will come and get you some way.

This game will go on as the administration sees it, period. If you like boycotting go join COSATU and structures like that because here we are about having pleasure and not the headache things.
