Pirates, Chiefs at opposite ends of table

Pirates, Chiefs at opposite ends of table

September 13 2009 at 07:03PM

Giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs were at opposite ends of the South African Premiership table after the fifth round Sunday.

Pirates held top spot in the richest African national football championship despite being held 0-0 at Golden Arrows while Chiefs sank to the bottom after a shock 1-0 home loss to Maritzburg United.

Unfashionable kwaZulu-Natal club United and Soweto side Moroka Swallows were the only victors and the eight fixtures produced just 10 goals as the race for a 1.25-million-dollar first prize moved out of first gear.

Pirates, runners-up to SuperSport United on goal difference last season, produced a fifth consecutive clean sheet and could have taken maximum points had unmarked 'Terror' Fanteni scored midway through the second half.

Maritzburg, who dodged relegation on the final day of the previous campaign, climbed to second thanks to an unstoppable first-half drive from Namibian midfielder Rudolf Bester.

Among five clubs a point behind United are Bloemfontein Celtic and Wits University, who were involved in the most dramatic finishes of the weekend schedule.

Celtic, backed by another crowd of green-clad dancing, singing supporters, grabbed a 90th-minute goal to draw 1-1 with AmaZulu, whose Zambian goalkeeper Kakonje Kalililo allowed a tame Thembile Kanono shot to slip under his body.

Wits also drew 1-1, with hosts Ajax Cape Town levelling two minutes from full-time through Franklyn Cale after Calvin Kadi had given the 'Students' a 64th-minute lead.

Slow starters SuperSport came from behind to hold Pretoria neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns in another 1-1 stalemate with Katlego Mphela and then Liberian Anthony Laffor converting penalties. - Sapa-AFP

  1. Chiiefs need mouth to mmouth reawakening. They slid from stardom to gloom and we need to breath into them quickly so they wont die. They have great potential and we must have saved them. Chiefs were great in the era of Mr Solomon "STIX" Morewa. But now in the era of Bobby Motaung they are on shaky ground. Nothing of Bobby but at the moment the shoese are too big. Perhaps Mr Cecil must lead untill Bobby is grown and groomed enough. Buthelezi did the same, he let Umtwana Zwelithini grow up before he could hand him over all his powers. Chiefs is a big brand and it took too many lives to get where Chiefs is and thus transition is not going to be that swif. Trust that Bamuza and Nkosana are taking good notice.

Let us not be fooled by the moment Chiefs will bounce back, they have been here before. We all have our rocky roads yet we do not quit. When Chiefs win too much people complain and yet when we loose too much people complain. We must now realise that other teams are good too, the league has best teams and gone are those days of just going to the park to collect points easily. Today points are not collected they must be earned. Besides, all South African players play harder when they play big teams like Chiefs because it makes a lot of sense. That is the only way they get recognition to be signed by big teams or make the Bafana Bafana Jersey. No wonder teams like Pirates have not collected too many cups lately. That does not mean they are a bad team, it simply means teams they play against wants to cash on their players. So they play themselves out. Think of a ten million sign on bonus, that is enough motivation for any player playing against a big team. Wait till we sign players at Trillion Rands then you will realise that teams like Pirates, Chiefs or Sundowns will be sitting at the bottom of the table yet they all have best players ever possible. Like I said those who will be playing against them will be too motivated to beat these big guns.
That is the only way to get yourself recognised, beat the big teams too hard and they will soon be back to buy you. So Chiefs loosing simply reflects on how many kids really want to play at Chiefs.

  2. Where is talkative "Mice" Donald Khuse. We longed to see him given a chance but once apointed he started running his cap hole by berating Pirates. H e should have foccused his energy at his job and now he will soon Kaizer's finger pointing the exit door. If you see the cow limping dont force it to climb a mountain. Yes Khuse has some contributions to make and the current status reflects all his doings also. Be like Doctor keep going to school and collect all certificates available, keep mouth shut and wait for your apointed moment.

Besided too many whites played for Chiefs and they too need a chance. Think of Shane Mcgregor and why not Warren Louis or Garvin Lane. They all South Africans after all and we must stop this thing of giving chance only to ex team players but we must be broad and embrace diversity. Guys like B rendon Silent was the only guy that could tame the dangerous Doctor Khumalo so he too has something to share. Just in the same token Lucas Radebe can make a good team manager at Pirates. Bamuza can go play for Chiefs and Kaizer Jr can come play at Pirates a few seasons. Bobby can go to Cosmos. Only when we start thinking outside the box will see true soccer. Maybe people must start where both Jomo and Kaizer started and track foot prints from that point.

  3. Give us free

I wish to plead if it will be possible to bring back Loui Tshakoane. Chiefs have been doing well untill Loui went back to Phutadichaba. Loui is one man Kaizer Chiefs fans understands very well. That should ease up too much on intern Manager. No doubt Bobby is doing very well and will do even more better as he settles in. Chiefs is a very big brand and we must learn to have the patience of a vulture. All teams once in a while have to rebuild and this time it seems Chiefs is doing that and they will soon get it right and these dark momentsb are only for a while. Kaizer Chiefs brand is a personality and all personalities have their hills and valley's.

Thus if will be very foolish to celebrate Chiefs weak moments. Old lady used to sing "this moment is coming to you also". What is Bobby's sin, that he is Kaizer's son. No we must stop this toxic hate. Kaizer Snr is happy with Bobby and knows more of Bobby than all haters. Kaizer is a good Father, look how his kids turned out. Lets thank Kaizer for being a great parent. That is a role model who raised his Kids in Phefeni and never ended where many Phefeni kids ended (jail). Kaizers wife has served this country providing healthcare for our loved ones across sporting code, gender, color or creed. If truth be told Kaizer can shut the doors and send his kids to go leave overseas like many others who keep their kids abroad just because he can afford it too. It is only a few rotten heads who are always causing accusations at Chiefs and posting hate on all media networks. Those who do not like what Kaizer is doing please stay home and bond with wife and kids, leave soccer alone it is not your thing. We are supposed to be supporting and watching. Running the mouth is against fans rules. This is sports so we must have fun. The team, coach and Management have their roles to play and we must be doing our roles if we have time to be looking at others. That is why we seat in the stands that is where we belong. Just because we know have Computers and beautiful web sites we can speak all hate. That is not Freedom of speech. This is business and Kaizer is making business decisions. Who in business wants to loose, so back of the Motaung's. Kaizer has risked his life and today we have a PSL run by rules and regulation. This may be an oportune for some creative minds to work or start Morals and Ethics Cyberspace Police. They will surely benefit companies as many pretend to be working yet spreading hate on soccer websites and those should stay in their background check and lets see if those arrested and found guilty for abusing company computer, spreading hate, not doing company work, costing and waisting company resources, using company resources to spread a lie. They do actually have those even laptops who can run arround peoples computerand report foul enterneting right away. A fool thinks in his head he is invisible. One thing with computers is that they have a memory where erased staff can be resurected. You can wipe things off but as long as you have that computer it is still there.

Peace and love to Kaizer Chiefs

  4. Well done Chiefs, great things to come, stay focused on the good and you will soon rrealise it was a test of charecter. This is fan zone and I do no think you dwell too much into it. We just hope you do what we know you can do and some times it does not go that way but you are the only ones who can get it right , hence we obviously cannot do what you guys do. Unfortunately our mouths tend to run faster than what is expected. Please take it with a pinch of salt. Our emotions tend to run ran faster than reality and we do not really mean it, its just a fan thing. We love you when you win and even when we loose know that we still love you. Those who speak ill are not Chiefs fans but try to fake their frustration, hoping we do worse. It a policy thing that we love Chiefs. Chiefs is glamour and period. The way up is often the way down and here comes Chiefs. Critics would have us thinking we got wrong this and that, but we have assembled the best ever. Let us stand behind our team and it will pay off.

  5. This is redeculous. How do people find pleasure when a South African teams seems to be drowning in the troubling waters. Sound like old south african police, they will find a man trapped in the car after a horrible accident and wait an hour before they call an ambulance. Then they would not even bother to pull accidents victims out untill it is clear they are dead. No man has told me this, seen it with my own naked eyes. You would be robbed day time in town and a police may be walking buy and look away as if they heard or seen nothing. Same mentality 15 years later some people are making a mockery of the very game they love. Even a crack head has enough sense not to do what these demons are doing. You do not have to be a Chiefs fan but why all the evil hate. This is Kaizers team and he does as he pleases and if you do no like it start your own team and do as you please.

  9. If chiefs goes Vodacom how can Kaizer remain PLS Chairman? Nothing personal. Then we wont have malabela saying "I am not scared of Jomo we are all in the same board". Am I makiking any sense. Vodacom and PSL are samething by Malabelas terms. Beside, Kaizer will make a great chair. Things are really changing, a former star now holds a strong sit. Who knows what, Kaizer may be minister of sports one day. Jomo will make great deputy SAFA president.

  10. what a parallel, The Tswanas that is the Motaungs are known to eat the whole cow by themselves. On the converse the Zimbabweans from the Nkomo clan who now ply their trade at Chiefs. Either you call the Matebele which works with the Tswanas or Ndebeles hich works for Zimbabweans. What else can a "Nkomo" do with a soccer ball.

We are entering the heard of cows.

  11. We need to assemble the strongest escue team ever. Chiefs have been reprted missing in the Canyon. Rescue expect have been attempting to call Chief of Staff Boobi but the cell phone is beleived to have ran out of charge. Attempts to contact Motsepe have not been fruitful as he is believed to have massieve problems with hooligan fans and coach. Motse expertise would have come in handy given his reputation of rescuing people deep under the earth. Some circles seem to be talking to Russian Victor Bonderenko. Bondas is convinced that the only way out for the Chief out of the Canyon is getting a submarine and start digging from under the earth. His plans seem credible given the reputations of Russians staying under the earth. Mandelas childrens fund is expected to cover all rescue finances.
