Free State Stars 2 – 0 Kaizer Chiefs

Free State Stars hosted the inconsistent Kaizer Chiefs at the Charles Mopeli Stadium on Wednesday. The home side made their intentions clear to the visitors in the first 3 minutes when they started attacking. The constant attacks on Chiefs paid off in the 16th minute when Hleza Mofedi found the back of the net at close range.

Itumeleng Khune, Kaizer Chiefs’ goalkeeper, was kept very busy by a determined Free State Stars as they dominated the first 25 minutes. Their determination paid off again in the 27th minute when Prince Olomu scored a second goal for his side. It was after this goal that Khune’s frustration with his defence was clearly visible.

In the second half Chiefs seemed desperate for a comeback, but it all amounted to wasted opportunities by Thuso Phala and the Nigerian Ibe Zito Obbomma. The Free State Stars defence was too good for Chiefs to break through, and the hosts went home with all three points.
