When
the final whistle went, there was a moment where Bobby Motaung and some other
guys I couldn't identify went to coach Stuart Baxter and sincerely thanked him.
That
was touching and I could only smile after seeing that because DAMN! This man has
done wonders in his first season, not only by winning 2 of the biggest trophies
in the country though.
I
saw glimpses of tiki-taka on Sunday. People, let's forget about the result for
a moment neh, Kaizer Chiefs plays wonderful football. Goodness! Based on our
performance only, I think it's safe to say that Baxter isn't done. This is only
the beginning of things to come. Mind you, he wasn't even given a mandate to
win any trophy, never mind the league and the biggest cup competition in the
country!
He
was given a mandate to change Chiefs' style of play, to re-create the
attractive brand of football that has been synonymous with Chiefs in years gone
by and yield results from that. This season I witnessed a very impressive side
with slick passing and incisive attacking play, with attacking moves that make
you think that the team has 20 men on the pitch. We didn’t have an Emmanuel
"Scara" Ngobese or a Jabu Mahlangu (Pule), we had a great TEAM that
attacked and entertained as unit.
I
think if we get a prolific goal scorer then we'll be miles ahead of everyone
else. Oh hang on, we already are... I know that we have had our share of
negatives but goodness me, the positives have been astounding!
Thank
you Baxter, thank you captain Itumeleng Khune and the players, thank you Doctor
Khumalo and the rest of the technical team.
BRING
ON NEXT SEASON!!! Call me Double Champ!
