Mr
Price SPORT and MAXED confirm their partnership with the Free State Stars FC
Mr
Price SPORT and the MAXED brand are proud to announce their partnership with
the Free State Stars Football Club. The new deal, which was officially
announced last night, was warmly welcomed by Free State Stars General Manager
Rantsi Mokoena.
"Free
State Stars Football Club would like to express its gratitude and appreciation
to Mr Price SPORT and MAXED for their decision to join the exciting football
industry through entering into a relationship with Free State Stars. We would
like to welcome you into soccer and we trust that the next three years will be
filled with excitement and great success between the two companies."
Mokoena
said he knew that the MAXED kit would be a hit with the players and supporters
of Free State Stars.
"We
are proud that we are the first professional soccer team to wear the MAXED
product. MAXED have developed a high-tech jersey for the team and the players
cannot wait to wear it in their first game against SuperSport United in the
MTN8 cup competition."
Mr
Price SPORT Managing Director Clint Larsson said the partnership heralded a new
era of involvement in South African football for the Mr Price Group.
"It
is an honour and privilege for Mr Price SPORT to be associated with a great
football team such as Free State Stars who have established a long and
distinguished legacy in South African football.”
"We
trust that our Mr Price SPORT core values of passion, value and partnership
will be reflected in our sponsorship of the Free State Stars FC and we look
forward to assisting the team to achieve their soccer dreams."
The
announcement marks the progression of the Mr Price SPORT MAXED brand into the
professional football scene, with a sponsorship presence having been put in
place at a development level for a number of years.
In
2004, the Mr Price High School Soccer league was launched in Mitchells Plain in
the Cape, with its subsequent success leading to the expansion of the exciting
initiative to seven provinces across South Africa, involving over 4000 learners
from 164 schools.
The
successful league led to the Mr Price Group and the Red Cap Foundation being
presented with a Sports Development award in 2009, with plans now in place to
see the Mr Price High School Soccer League establish a presence in all nine
provinces.
Preparations
are already underway for the next league to be launched in the Free State.
A
number of young participants have already gone on to play football
professionally and now the opportunity exists for them to one day turn out for
the Free State Stars.
Mokoena
acknowledged that the involvement of Mr Price SPORT in football was going a
long way to inspiring future sports stars.
"The
decision to sponsor Free State Stars will go a long way in helping to develop
the youth of this country and bettering the lives of ordinary South Africans
through sport. Mr Price SPORT's involvement in soccer will play a big part in
the creation of jobs, in the promotion of a healthier South Africa through the
participation in sports and most importantly in helping to unify all South
Africans.
And
now there is every reason to believe that the ‘Stars’ will continue to sparkle
on football fields throughout South Africa for many seasons to come.
