Letter to Mark Mayambela

Dear Mark ‘Professor’ Mayambela, You are one of the most skilful players in the local game and can leave a trail of defenders behind when you make your attacking runs. With an educated left foot, you have the ability to provide crosses and through balls.

In your first season with Orlando Pirates, you struggled to break into the starting line-up but contributed when brought in from the bench with former coach Ruud Krol opting to use you as an impact player.

However, what I wrote is what I believe you are capable of pity your overall performance since joining Pirates opposes my statement as your performance seems to have dropped since Krol left and bearing in mind that you suspected he was killing your Progress by playing you as a sub, I wonder if you are apologetic to him for Leal gave you couple of starting chances but you blew them.

You started about 5 games for Pirates, played more than 30 times as a Sub but failed to score even a single goal which yields 0% strike rates to your name and that is so lame for an attacking player like you.

You have an ability to open up the defence, but your decision making is always letting you down as you at times opt to shoot by ballooning the ball towards the sky or your final pass at times is off target which raises a question as to whether it has anything to do with your low confidence or either you are not as good as we believe/wish you are.

My support membership to your career has expired on the 30th of June 2012 and it is pity I have signed a pre contract with Pirates new signing Khetho Masuku which kicks off at the 1st of August thus I urge you to note that my decision not to renew my contract with you was performance related as I hate disappointments in my life. I can’t always rely on DVDs to watch your History yet you are still a profession.
