Mzansi admins don’t apply their heads

South African football is not professional... this little assessment is based purely on how supposedly professional contracts are handled.

Whenever a player does not renew a contract ending at season close, he is benched for the remainder of the season or put on the stands or sent packing.

Why punish a player instead of allowing him to complete his term? Granted, he won’t be there next season, but he can still assist the team till end of season... sometimes teams need to accommodate short-term goals in their approach.

Again, the Vladimir Vermezovic situation at Kaizer Chiefs fails logic... as per Motaungs, they parted ways immediately cause they wanted to renew his services for next season, but then again, that is 'short-sightedness as this long-term view defies short-term view'... why not allow him to complete his term, and not renew it when the season ends, just like Orlando Pirates smartly dealt with Ruud Krol?

Our teams should look at how the professional corporate world operates, if an ordinary employee resigns, one month of 'notice' service is rendered... and if an executive resigns, three months of notice service is rendered... though, these resignees will go, they still give quality service during their contracted period.


In Europe such practice is the norm, for e.g. Marco Reus will be joining Borussia Dortmund next season, but he is still a key regular for Borussia Mönchengladbach.
