Our players have lowered their standard

"YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT TODAY you can have bad game and the next weekend you produce the goods..." Mandla Masango.

Right there, just there, that’s where South African football is getting it wrong... it is such pathetic attitudes that have contributed to our sorry state of our game... players have lowered their standard.

Mandla Masango is literally telling us that it is acceptable to be inconsistent... I’m not going to accept this mediocrity... yes, you can be off-form at times, but I was taught that, on our off-form day, never ever be below average thus nullifying having a bad game.

If such attitudes continue to be prevalent, we will forever have confused people calling for the inclusion of the likes of Benni McCarthy in the national team, or we will continue having less dominant or lucky teams like Orlando Pirates winning leagues or money mad teams like Mamelodi Sundowns signing every on-form player who then 'accepts that he's off-form' once he dons a ka bo yellow shirt... shame on you South Africa!
