Win against Cosmos was ugly but they all count and Khune to return on Wednesday

Whatever way you look at it, a league win is always worth three points.
These are the words I found myself playing with after the game on Saturday evening. If there was a game we could have won by a large margin, it was this one particular game.

The sad thing is that this is exactly what happened to us last season, where we dominated games and failed to convert our chances. This time we went one better and even missed a penalty. It was a very unconvincing display of football but we got the three points nonetheless.
Right, welcome to it, it’s a new week and we got a lot to talk about today. The first being what I’ve already mentioned; our game against Cosmos on Saturday.
The game started as I expected it to, the game plan was I had anticipated. We attacked from the first minute and that resulted in Majoro scoring his first goal for Amakhosi in the second minute of the game.

The coach knew and we all knew that playing against Cosmos was never going to be an easy affair, we knew that we had to defend high up and pin them to their own half. And man did we do that well. At some stage in the game we saw Dominic Isaacs playing a striker role. But of course strikers are taught to shoot on target and defenders are taught to ‘clear’ the danger.  Isaacs did was he’s trained to do, except it was in the oppositions box.
Anyway my point is that we had a very good game plan and considering the number of chances we created, it should have been complimented by an emphatic score line. But that wasn’t to be as we squandered one chance after the other and even almost got ourselves into trouble later in the game when we conceded in the 82nd minute through a scorcher from Cosmos’ Bethuel Tukane.

To be honest, I thought the game was over at that point but the football gods had other plans for our first game of the PSL tournament. We reclaimed the lead in 89th minute thanks to a defense splitting through pass from Lucky Baloyi (to Tshabalala) and cool finishing by Josta Dladla. The former duly proved why he deserves a starting berth in our next game against on Wednesday against Swallows or rejuvenated Swallows I should say.
To briefly summarize the game, in 60 seconds:
First half, we score in the second minute of the game, continue to launch attack after attack, Cosmos do what they do best, they defend very well and launch a very rare attack, in the process injurying Itumeleng Khune who’s then subbed for Arthur Bartman. Siphiwe Tshabalala has two of his best shots saved by the very acrobatic and experienced Avril Phali.

Fast forward to the second half, Nontshinga fouls Majoro in the box, we get a penalty, Parker takes it poorly and Phali makes an easy save, all of Amakhosi are silenced as twitter goes quiet. In the 82nd minute, Cosmos pull one back to level matters, I think ferk! The game is over, Josta Dladla says not so fast and pulls one from the hat and wins the game for Amakhosi, we are all happy, but disappointed by the number of missed chances.  Does that summarize the game for you? I’m hope it does.
To add on to that, Yende had another horrendous game and proved once again that he’s finding it very hard to settle in at Chiefs. Keegan Ritchie had a sterling performance and I think should now be cut some slack as he proved why he deserves that left back position. Arthur Bartman still has it and he proved it with a number of important saves that kept us in the game.
Khune injury update:
When Khune was subbed in the first half, it was a scare not only for us Kaizer Chiefs fans but for South Africa as well. When we heard he was being taken to hospital, it was even worse. Fortunately the club came come out later in the evening and said confirmed that the injury wasn’t a serious one and various media reports say that he’ll be available for our game against Swallows on Wednesday:
Talking about Khune’s injury, Vlad V said:
“Khune went for scanner this evening. It is not a bad injury as initially thought”
In an interview with the Sowetan newspaper, Khune is quoted confirming the injury is not serious and he should be available for Wednesday:
“I think it was a bruise but I’m fine now and should be available for the game against Swallows where we are going for yet another win.”
Right, in closing, we all knew Cosmos was gonna be a HUGE test, in the past, we’ve mostly played draws against them. This time we didn’t, we won and while acknowledging that it was not a very ‘nice’ win as many would have liked, it was 3 points in the bag nonetheless. That’s 1 out of 1. Bring on Swallows.
Amakhosi 4 Glory! Have a happy Monday.

Good thing is that women or even chiefs like real mandingo and will give them dingiling all over. This weekend its sundowns getting my dingiling and be patient I am on my way to come and perform a procedure.
