People have been asking me for the better part of today to say something on the SABC so called "Technical" problem with regards to the Bafana Bafana Game. Well SABC and SAFA are not my favourite subjects. All I am going to say is the Team at SABC and Siyaqoba Campaign, did not see it important to show the millions of SA soccer supporters the game, hence the "Technical" issue. So much for our Public broadcaster and their so called “Broadcasting for total citizen Empowerment." Shame on them!
Now to the real issue of the day, Sphelele Mthembu Part 2. I was so happy that the case would be laid to rest, for the sake of the young boy and his career, but just how wrong I was. I deliberately never asked for the case to be explained. It’s so amazing that none of us, the soccer loving people, do not really know what went on, for the player to be said to be an Orlando Pirates Player. Soccer in South Africa is so not transparent. I thought the ruling would be made public, like all the details of the case and the reasons that lead to this ruling.
We will never know what’s happening with this case. I hope that Chiefs will make everyone understand why they took the route they taking now. On their website today, Kaizer Chiefs Chairperson said, "I am just concerned that some detractors are apportioning blame at us; something that I find premature at this stage considering our intention to pursue the matter". This simply said to me they will appeal the case, and they do not want me and you to blame them, but why should we not? We will until they come out in the open and they tell us why they dragging this case and they stop telling us they will write a book one-day.
I am not saying the team is wrong in lodging an appeal, but I think if there are some beans to be spilled, so be it. From what I can sense coming out of Naturena, is that they feel hard done by. Like they can’t even believe the DRC arrived at the decision that they did. To say it clearly, they feel like someone at Orlando pirates, due to his super powers, might have swayed the decision.
Until we know the truth, we will keep on watching the delayed games on SABC, with the hope of seeing Mthembu in some recorded, live SABC game.
