If you thought David Beckham or Roberto Carlos were the sole set-piece specialists, think again; Long before these world stars came into picture, Jomo Sono was a master of direct free-kicks. Very likely you missed this great Pirates player, but Teko Modise is here to replay those magic moments. Born in Soweto, but spent most of his playing career in Limpopo playing for the now defunct Ria Stars and City Pillars, respectively. Modise has a fantastic first touch, and the ability to split defences open with pin-point passing. His moments of magic, however, don’t detract from his knack of keeping things simple – something the PSL seems to lack, incongruously enough. He was voted Mvela Golden League Player of the Season while playing for City Pillars during the 2005/2006 season. In 2008, he became the inaugural PSL Footballer of the Year. Modise was recently appointed ambassador by global company McDonald's for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Big No! How many free kicks have he bent in? Not more then 5 if my memory serves me well.
