What a year for me personally and for Diskioff. The only thing that really disturbed me was when I lost a father figure, a role model and friend. My brothers death was something that made this year the worst of my life. A true Sundowns fan who would be bitterly disapointed with the things at the Pretoria outfit.

As for diskioff its something that I safely can say its my lifelong dream come true. It would not have come true if it was not for Proffesor and the whole team, the very best team in this country.

To all our fans, my friends and family and all the South African community, let me take this opportunity to wish all of you the safest and fun festive and a diskioff prosperous new year.

To my best friend and the mother of my beautiful and intelligent daughter, you everything to me.
Happy holidays everyone.

Kind Regards,
Baile (Diski2010 manager)

Kaizer Chiefs: Not Amakhosi Amahle at the Moment

Kaizer Chiefs are having one of those worse seasons yet again! Its seems as if things will get better after beating Golden Arrows, but nothing seems to work as they only collect two points of twelve in their last four games: The Amakhosi supporters wont be enjoying the Christmas and New Year nicely as they know their team has a lot of work to do come the second round next year… if they to win the Absa Premier League!

Comments from Kaizer Chiefs supporters:

Sifiso
We threw away three points against Platinum Stars. Didn't see the game, but allowing Platinum Stars to salvage a draw after we had a two goal cushion is totally unaccaptable!! The guys really need to start wearing the Khosi jersey with more pride!!

Thulaganyo
2 points out of 12; this is ridiculous. How do you expect to win the league with such a performance. After November's performance I thought Chiefs has turned and the happy days are here again; I was fooled... they nearly spoiled my holidays! Until Chiefs acknowledges that they don't have players who can the league for them they will continue getting bad results!

Thuso
Come on guys teams are beating us these days, gone are those sweet days when we used to beat teams for fun and win trophies all the time, nowadays teams beat us all the time and we dont win any trophies.

Banks
Come On You Guys! You can't just sing when we're winning! Onward The Golden Horde!

Ea lla koto buries Chiefs

Free State Stars 2 – 0 Kaizer Chiefs

Free State Stars hosted the inconsistent Kaizer Chiefs at the Charles Mopeli Stadium on Wednesday. The home side made their intentions clear to the visitors in the first 3 minutes when they started attacking. The constant attacks on Chiefs paid off in the 16th minute when Hleza Mofedi found the back of the net at close range.

Itumeleng Khune, Kaizer Chiefs’ goalkeeper, was kept very busy by a determined Free State Stars as they dominated the first 25 minutes. Their determination paid off again in the 27th minute when Prince Olomu scored a second goal for his side. It was after this goal that Khune’s frustration with his defence was clearly visible.

In the second half Chiefs seemed desperate for a comeback, but it all amounted to wasted opportunities by Thuso Phala and the Nigerian Ibe Zito Obbomma. The Free State Stars defence was too good for Chiefs to break through, and the hosts went home with all three points.

I'm a big fan of Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns supporters are feeling the heat as their team keeps on losing games every week after week!!!!!!!!

Mo
As for OJ Mabizela, he's been pissing on our brand since he joined us, with his dagga and AWOL sagas and now the drinking and driving.............. I think it's high he gets the boot.

If he doesn't, I’m taking an early retirement from Sundonws as a supporter. Motsepe must stop protecting this bari who doesn't know what a second chance in life is......NX!

Sellnick
I'm so Gatvol with our team.... I don't even know where to point my finger now. But Mr. Prez must stomach some of the blame too, if not the most... he's been spoiling a bunch of underperforming-overpaid players who in return do nothing but bring us tears week in and week out.....as for the coach who can't even speak english...... I rest my rest.......

Mukhuba
Too many unnecessary players in this team. We need to have only the ones who wants to play regularly - this will not confuse the coach~!

Lehohla
13 new signings not even 1 of them understands what it means to wear a Sundowns jersey. We are a championship winning team and now we look worse than average. There are just too many overrated players and who ever replaces Michel better start with getting rid of: Mbesuma, Zuma, Vilakazi, and Mngomeni he is a gud player but he came to Sundowns at the wrong time.

I’m Boycotting Sundowns just as I did during the Tshiclas era when players where leaving left, right and center bcos of poor management. All I have to say is that Mbesuma is useless and against Platinum Stars he proved that.

Chidi
What is the difference between a supporter and a fan? Who has a sense of ownership between the two? When players are not playing well should they be "recalled?"

S. Motsepe
Recall them damn it, by the way ur political allegiance is pap... c how u'll COPE in next YEARS election.

Livatsha
Chidi, de difference is dat a fan is de 1 who attends all de matches. A support is de 1 who doesn’t go 2 de stadiums but loves de team. A fan is a card carrying person, a supporter is not. Players get recalled when they r put on de transfer list.

Mokwena
I think those USELESS, OVERPAID, UNDERPERFORMING MORONS should be called to order.... IT"S THREEE MUCH, CAN"T TAKE IT ANYMO NXXX!

Madziva
I am not taking this lying down! I am going back to Super Stadium on Wednesday... this is my team and they are going thru a bad patch.

I'm a big fan of Mamelodi Sundowns

Amabhakabhaka fans felt the pain after losing the Telkom Knockout Cup to Ajax of Cape Town in the FINAL on Saturday night!

Msomi
Ja, Krol should have put Senzo as the 1st choice keeper, he has outshone the overrated Khune on many occasions this season. But also I don’t think Mushangazikhe should strike for us, the guy falls down too easily.

Mashava
The boys played and could have come back to force extra time. Kroll is doing great job with the boys but I still find some of his decision shocking, such as bringing back Joseph after injury in cup final and also the defence; he shouldhave stuck with Lekgwati on right back and Thwala on left, it exposed us today. Otherwise we are having a great season and looking forward to next game.

Nkewana
Things are really bad in this old team, now I’m convinced that the clubs ancestors are angry. Lesley Manyathela, Clifford Moleko, Zodwa Khoza, Scara Sono and all of the Bucs heroes who have fallen should be remembered and paid tributes. We always end up as runners up every season.

Msomi
Bloody Ajax, they were too lucky. We were by far the better team on the park.

Mochware
Auuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, Pirates on the rampage!!!!! That 2- 1 is now history, back to life back to reality. Pirates is gonna win; we are hungry for a cup..."Shapa Bhakaniya Shapa".

Zungu
Hawu bafowethu.... what happened? We needed to win that game guys! We need too go up the log now and please win guys... please... we need revenge.

Football Barbage

Now that the year is coming to an end, Mr. Know it ALL is mulling over some of the horrendous things he has read over the past year. I hope for the sake of the soccer loving public people who bother to write about football will also take time to think before they do. Now some of the garbage that I have read goes a little like this:

Having been a footballer automatically makes one a good administrator - garbage.

There are no more big teams in the PSL – garbage.

A Portuguese or French speaking coach cannot coach African players; there will a language barrier – garbage.

Two good games make you a star – garbage.

25 year olds are young players – garbage.

Jomo Sono is so perfect, “he should be the chair of the PSL”, “he should be the president of SAFA”, “he should be the national coach” “he would solve all football problems”, garbage, if he is so perfect why is his team playing in the lower league.

Beating Chiefs, Pirates or Sundowns makes you a big team - garbage.

Sundowns, the aristocrats. The Galacticos, money talks, they will sweep everything - garbage.

Everyone who played in the 70s and 80s is a legend - garbage.

The national second division teams must get more money, why? So they can recruit the PSL has beens? Garbage.

Underperforming coaches must not be fired, garbage, wait until you are the one who invests R100 million rand in a soccer team before you say that.

Kaizer Chiefs has no quality players, garbage, they have a phenomenal seven quality players according to Muhsin.

Itumeleng Khune is a world class keeper – garbage, the boy needs some work.

South Africa got an easy Confederations draw – garbage, there is no such thing as an easy draw when it comes to South Africa.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, Mr. Know it ALL’s New Year resolutions is to take all of these self proclaimed experts who jump on the bandwagon of criticism to the cleaners. If you are going to write, write some sense.

South African diski is doomed!

The First Division supposed to provide us with the best players that will graduate to the Absa Premier League, but the story lapha eMzansi is way different. I was at the sports club this past weekend to watch Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town – a game Amabhakabhaka lost. While I was enjoying the game and my pizza I overheard someone saying he was watching a game in which one team missed three penalties.

I couldn’t concentrate on the game anymore as I wanted to know if the guy didn’t have two many beers to drink. He told me that last weekend he was watching Witbank Spurs vs Winners Park in the First Division and Spurs missed three penalties in that game.

I thought this guy was joking and so I did some small research. I was really shocked to learn that this was for real and the worse part Spurs lost the game. I wondered what is happening to South African diski - maybe we shouldn’t be complaining when Bafana Bafana are not doing well as the foundation of diski is not properly natured.

Fist Division suppose to give us future Bafana Bafana players, but it doesn’t seem like its going to happen. It seems as if the standard of football in the First Division is way weak – and now I’m not even surprised why they don’t have a sponsorship.

This is where coaches should come and look for young talented players, but in this league you mostly find old players. I haven’t really followed the Vodacom League, but from what I’m reading – the situation there is very bad. One wonders what is going to happen after 2010 as now everyone is focus on that. I still say we need a lot of changes in the national team: from SAFA to the under-12 team.

With me already paying for two leagues – I would like to ask Edgards to sponsor the Retirement League and Metropolitan to sponsor the First Division.

Big Teams lose too

These teams used to be the "big three"!! No more because now every team is big enough to rumble and compete at any level.

That is a profound but flawed statement from my colleague Nito. These teams are and will always be big teams. People in their weekend excitement tend to believe that to be a big team you must win all your games, which off cause is a rather a fallacy.

For all my life as a football lover I have seen Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns lose to Hellenic, Umtata Bucks, Giant Blackpool, Manning Rangers and the list goes on and on but Chiefs , Pirates and Downs are still here.

If these three teams were to be moved to National Second Division with immediate effect, the focus, the support, the media, the money, the passion, the love, the anger and all elements that go with big football would follow suit with immediate effect.

Being a big team is not just about winning hence Wits will never be one, it is about the emotions the team evokes in people, whether positive or negative, it is the value of people’s and media interest, the history that makes the team what it is, the number of families that get to eat because Pirates is in town, the number of entrepreneurs created by the rise of Kaizer Chiefs and many other tangibles and intangibles.

Manchester United is a big team, recognized worldwide as a big team , they went for a decade without winning anything but that did not make them any smaller, they lose games here and there and yet they remain arguably the biggest team in the world because being big in football is more than winning a game, it about winning hearts.

Supersport is a very good team and so is Arrows and Ajax but until they are able to convince people to come to their games ,until they are able to evoke emotions in millions, unless they are able to garner profound love in more than 500 people, they will remain very good small teams.

Administering Football is not a game

I always find it hilarious when various quarters of people criticize soccer administrators for various “transgressions”.

One of the most commonly used critique is that many of them did not play football. People who understand sport, in particular football and by understanding I mean a grassroots understanding of football will know that this is a flawed critique.

Football is not just about 22 men, it is about the love of the game, in many townships we find doctors, lawyers, teachers, businesspeople who love the game and tap into their own sometimes meagre financial resources to support grassroots football.

An amateur team I was involved with as a teenager was supported by a factory worker who shared in his earnings to provide transport and refreshments to our team, and in fact once used his bonus to get us decent gear.

Ask Ria Ledwaba how she got involved in football, she was approached as a known sport lover by a local team to support the team administratively and financially and she did, this applies to many people today who run the sport.

This argument that football is run by people who did not play the sport and therefore have no idea what they are doing is an emotional outburst that has no grounding and that is why we find it only in football.

Maybe we need to extend this ridiculous stipulation to all the sectors in football, how about “everyone who writes about professional football should have played the sport at that level”, maybe “everyone who goes to the stadium should have played professional”, or maybe “all referees should have played professional”, it is ridiculous, football is a sport of love and frankly many of these players can hardly manage themselves hence they are in doldrums today and having played football does not make you forever deserving.

I have never heard people say that in other sport or sector, maybe to run Telkom one needs to have been a technician or SAA pilots should run SAA, or maybe its time I became CEO at my company too, and in fact it is only in this country that these arguments are advanced.

When days were dark in football it is these people who kept the fires burning in the sport that made it possible for all of us to marvel at the 22 men on the field and off course being a nation of critics we will never appreciate that.

It is only when you have participated in football at the most unfashionable levels that you understand the sacrifices that people make as football lovers, and just because Lucas Radebe played for Chiefs and Leeds does not mean he would and should be a an administrator or even a coach, if he wants to, he must start where there is no glamour, at local level by supporting local football administration at that level, it is these constituencies that will help him cut his teeth and grow as a football administrator.

Football administrators are not beyond reproach and in fact need us to keep them on their toes, however they should also be commended for their love of the sport, former players were great, well some of them anyway and should be commended for their contribution but administration is a whole new different ball game.

The giants are falling down

These teams used to be the "big three"!! No more because now every team is big enough to rumble and compete at any level. Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs were brought to face reality over the weekend.

It was Chiefs vs Santos at Athlone Stadium; the stadium was almost full to capacity if it wasn't for the constructions that are taking place in both north and south part of the stands. It was an entertaining football. I was stuck in the middle of the Kaizer Chiefs fans. In fact the ninety percent of the fans were Chiefs.

Disappointed in Cape Town people once more, Cape team was playing in their back yard but as usual they opted to watch European Football on their rented plasmas. Well Chiefs open the scoring with Zito slotting home a rebound from Francis Chansa's blunder; well it was a well taken short by Letsolonyane and a great finish by Zito.

Santos came fighting hard, Graham King was denied by the cross bar, he launched a thunder which gave Khune no chance, hit the inside of the cross bar and come out "well I think it was a goal" but the ref and his assistance decided otherwise.

Eleazar Rodgers!!!! What a player - cool and collected and can take any defender at anytime. He equalised with a well taken goal from a very tight angle, "acute angle if I still remember my trigonometry" and there it was again Itumeleng Khune's fumble for Bonginkosi Macala, to slot home a win for Santos.

Cape teams did well over the weekend; Ajax Cape Town slowed down Orlando Pirates speed, Mabhuti Khauleza opps Khenyeza was the man who damaged the loyal Pirates supporters. Once again the Chloorkop side was beaten, thanks to the former Kaizer Chiefs striker, David (Ferrari) Radebe. Coach Michael Henry has a mountain to climb, with Esrom Nyandoro injured and Surprise Moriri still trying to get match fitness, it's a disaster at the Mamelodi side.

The one thing that caught my attention most is Kaizer Chiefs fans. After the hammering by Santos - the Chiefs fans were throwing bottles and Vuvuzelas on the pitch. I thought people understand that in football you win some you loose some - let’s not be bad losers guys. Hope this behaviour changes as soon as possible (This is order not a request)!!!!

What a weekend of good results

I love soccer. What would we be without it? The big three bites the dust and it’s like there was a PSL break this past week. Not many people are looking forward to Walter Mokoena and his crew on the boring Soccer Zone.

I was greatly disappointed at the fact that all my Orlando Pirates friends claimed that the team that took the field was their B side. This simply said to me that these people are simply trying to say to me that The Mighty Ghost does not have a pool of quality players. I talk about the kind of squad that has depth and the pedigree to win any championship. Well if people are so keen to belittle their very own team like that, well there is nothing much we can say.

Then my best friend, who happens to be a Kaizer Chiefs fan, comes to me to point out how their former (Chiefs) players are doing so well with other teams. The two players, who were discarded by Idi Amin, no excuse me, Muhsin Ertugral. David Radebe won it for Moroka Swallows, to sink the ship at Chloorkop Ocean. Whilst Mabhuti Kamesa, what’s with me today, ok, Mabhuti Khenyeza, did to Pirates what happened to Julius Ceaser. Remember when Ceacers fearthers were unplugged so that He flies an ordinary Pitch? Well this two were not good enough at the struggling Naturena Side.

Then it does not rain it pours at Mamelodi Sundowns. Firstly the technical team is a mess. There is an Assistant coach one and two, who I believe none knows French. Well somehow they should get to help the French speaking Henry to technically outclass their opponents. Then the highly paid players seem to have lost the real reason they are at Chloornkop.

Well, this was a great sporting weekend. I tell you there is no noise in the Diskioff office. I am told that the real French speaking Assistant coach is on his way with someone's private Jet to Chloornkop. This should bring a sigh of relief to the Sandawana family. Where does this leave Trapatoni? Well He can still be Assistant coach Three on the same salary He got as Head Coach of cause.

Absa Premiership Results this weekend

United outsmart tough Arrows

Supersport United – 2
Golden Arrows – 0
• Supersport United defeated Golden Arrows 2-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday to move second in the ABSA Premier League. United’s goals come from Ellias Pelembe and Anthony Laffor. This was Arrows second loss in a row in the league after they suffered their first defeat in the hands of Amakhosi.

Stars fail to register vital win
Free State Stars – 1
Maritzburg United – 1
• Free State Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by a 10-man Maritzburg United at Goble Park on Saturday. Stars defender James Motola scored first for the home side, but Stars’ goal was cancelled by a late goal from Lebohang Kukane. The results didn’t help Stars as they remain in the danger-zone.

Thanda obliterate Stars
Platinum Stars – 1
Thanda Royal Zulu – 4
• Thanda Royal Zulu disgraced Plantuim Stars at their home ground (Olympia Park) with a whipping of a 4-1 win on Saturday night. Thanda wonder striker, Bernard Parker, was yet again in the making of things as he netted two goals for Thanda - and former Jomo Cosmos striker, Skosinathi Nhleko, also netted two goals for the Durban side. Stars only goal of the game was scored by former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Godfrey Sapula.

Chiefs suffer fifth loss of the season
Santos – 2
Kaizer Chiefs – 1
• Santos defeated Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 at the Atlhone Stadium on Saturday to move away from the relegation zone in the ABSA Premier League. Santos’ goals come from Eleazer Rogers and Bonginkosi Macala. Ibe Zito Ogbonna scored the only goal for Chiefs. Mushin Ertugral is under pressure to produce results despite winning his last game against Golden Arrows. This defeat by Santos has added move worries to the Turkish mastermind coach.

Ajax take round one against Pirates
Orlando Pirates – 0
Ajax Cape Town – 1
• Ajax Cape Town defeated Orlando Pirates 1-0 at the Johannesburg Stadium on Saturday night to move top of the ABSA Premier League. Ajax’s goal come from Mabhuti Khenyeza. This game was a warm-up to the most anticipated Telkom Knockout Cup final this weekend. Pirates rested some of their key players who Rudi Krol will hope they’ll turn the tables come the final at Chatsworth Stadium this Saturday.

Sundowns dismal season continues
Mamelodi Sundowns – 0
Moroka Swallows – 1
• Moroka Swallows added more pain in Mamelodi Sundowns at Super Stadium on Sunday as they flew away with all the three points. David Rabede was the culprit who hurt the Sundowns faithfulz with an outstanding goal that left the new coach, players and fans stunned after the referee blew his whistle for full-time.

AmaZulu bamboozle Wits
Bidvest Wits – 2
AmaZulu – 3
• AmaZulu defeated stubborn Bidvest Wits 3-2 at the Milpark Staium on Sunday in their ABSA Premier League clash. AmaZulu’s goals come from Dumisani Ngwenya, Collins Chabalala and Brad Riston. Wits goals come from Clifford Mulenga and David de Oliveira. The victory by AmaZulu will take down the pressure from coach Clive Barker as his side move 10th in the league.

United and Celtic share points
Bay United – 1
Bloemfontein Celtic – 1
• Bay United were held to a duel 1-1 draw by Bloemfontein Celtic at Goble Park on Sunday. Celtic player Geofrey Sserunkuma scored from a penalty, but Celtic’s goal was cancelled by a late half time goal from Gareth Ncaca. The results didn’t help both United and Celtic as they remain in the danger zone in the Absa Premier League.

by Mduduzi

Umlilo share the spoils

Wow! What a match! Firstly it was great to see the number of Umlilo supporters who created an absolutely amazing atmosphere for the players.

Unfortunately no side won today, as Bloem Celtic and Bay Utd played to a 1 - 1 draw after some shocking refereeing decisions. Bloem Celtic opened the scoring after Umlilo were "judged" to have handled the ball (when i mean "judged" I mean that is what the LINESMAN thought he saw).

Fortunately Bay replied in injury time of the first period with a corner resulting in a goal for Gareth Ncaca. The second half saw end to end football being played but neither team being able to capitalize on their chances. Bay United did however look impressive under new Coach, Khabo Zondo, and it looks promising when one thinks of the injury list and some quality players who have not had their run yet.

Umlilo are still bottom of the log with 8 points - tied with Free State Stars and Siwelele themselves. Their next game is this weekend when they take on the Amakhosi at Loftus Stadium.

Watsha Umlilo!

The world of football is watching us

I am very disappointed about the sport administrators of this country, SAFA. SAFA had failed us in more than five occasions, you name them, and SAFA is full of people who have never kicked a soccer ball! They call themselves analysts, one wonders why people like Lucas Radebe, Neil Tovey and others are not our administrators. They have played and they understand the football and know how the fans feel. Administration degree or PHD can be useless if you never kicked the ball.

SAFA offices had broken into, and this makes one think, who will actually broke into SAFA office?? Looking for what because the guys there are clueless about the admin, I hope they did not break into their own offices, this is like politics now. What message are we showing the world because the attention has moved from Germany to South Africa? Our main soccer admin offices was broken into where was security, it makes you think really.

Some fans force themselves into the stadiums, not all of us can fit into the stadium and that is why there are TVs - forcing ourselves it's a danger to ourselves, but we still do it. We all know that most of our stadiums are under constructions, some parts of the stadiums cannot be used. Our soccer administrators still take important games to such stadiums, why? Please masapota we all know how you value your teams, but if the match tickets are sold out it means no more sits at the stadiums, so why go there and try to destroy the fence come on guys.

On a positive site, it shows that the supporters are back at the stadiums and it's good to have more supporters at the stadiums. But let's just hang in there for the stadiums to be completed... we will all enjoy the Mzansi diski in our world class stadiums. Orlando Stadium is the perfect example and we all going to taste the good of being proudly South Africans and Africans. Let us all act responsible because the WORLD is watching.

Festive is started already, drive safely on your way to stadiums tomorrow and enjoy responsibly, Diskioff need to write more articles for you next year oops next month. Siya groove, tjovitjo!

This book is a real must have for all of us.

I had a privilledge of listening to an interview with Peter Alegi. Peter Alegi is an Associate Professor of History and a Core Faculty member of the African Studies Center at MSU.

He is the author of Laduma!: Soccer, Politics, and Society in South Africa. I am yet to read the book but only got to hear what the book entails. This is a book for all soccer lovers to have, it contains our history and where South African and African football is all about. Now since Bobby Motaung threatened to write a book, this is simply to make him to know that writting a book, is not like running Daddy's team.

This is a brief of what the book entails.

In South Africa there are times when nothing is more important than soccer (football). Laduma!, is an immensely informative and vital account of the history of the game in South Africa. In explaining how soccer - a sport imported with colonialism - came to be a mainstay of black sporting experience, it explores the Africanisation of the game with the introduction of rituals and magic, and the emergence of distinctive playing styles.

Using archival research, interviews, newspaper and magazine articles, adverts and photos, Laduma! chronicles the impact of indigenous sporting traditions such as stick fighting, the rise of Orlando Pirates, the emergence of rivals Moroka Swallows, and the power struggles between different football associations and white authorities. Soccer influenced class and generational divisions, shaped masculine identities, and served as a mobilising force for township and political organisations.

Laduma! embodies sporting history at its best and will be of interest to ardent soccer fans as well as more serious scholars of African history.

Orlando Pirates is in the right lane

What a team!! Sir Krol turned the ordinary Orlando Pirates into a powerful team and the confidence of the players shows that they have a good mentor. Sir Krol did not give up on his players when his head was called buy the fans, he knew what he was doing and he did just that, Pirates is one of the feared teams in the ABSA Premiership at the moment.

Pirates' players are more confident that they were before. Benson Mhlongo he proved so many people wrong, and Mhlongo is a good player with a big heart.

This team has a slow start, the Coach was written off by people who don’t understand football, people who want to see results flowing in, players were criticised and booed by their own fans, especially Benson Mhlongo.

Mhlongo is so unlucky when it comes to the player booing, he was booed at Mamelodi Sundowns, he was not anyone's favourite at the national team, and people who are being stubborn have questioned Mhlongo's inclusion in Bafana Games, his confidence was down because of the booing. Why mara baf'wethu? We want our players to grow but we still boo them!

Sir Krol has brought back careers that we were about to loose. The confidence of Pirates players is unbelievable; I even shake when they played my favourite team.

The ABSA Premier League is so tight, no one is guaranteed a place, Thanda Zulu Royals was boxing every team in their way at the beginning of the season, but now they struggling at the bottom. Golden Arrows was brought back to earth by Kaizer Chiefs.

Chiefs is not playing good (Chiefs' calibre), but they are winning games which is a good thing because the points are improving. I predict a very tough season. Whoever is going to win the Premier League this season will have to sweat; there are no more jokes here.

The different between position 1 and position 8 on the table is only 4 points, you can imagine, anything is possible through hard work and dedication and the most dedicated, hardworking team will win the league. Hopefully Pirates is not just on form.

NITO's magic fingers for your pleasure (Back from injury)

The two weeks that was

Firstly I would like to welcome myself back from being AWOL, I had a good time with OJ and Jabu Mahlangu now that I am broke I have decided to come back to work, I will be facing a DC where I will get a suspended fine, which off cause I will never pay.

Orlando Stadium – Orlando Pirates
I have to take you back to the opening game of the reborn Orlando, isigodi sikaMaminzela, the stadium looks very good, it is compact, fans are very close to the action and I wish to commend the buccaneer faithful and the five TRZ supporters for making this Saturday memorable. The football in the pitch was great particularly when the fans were vocal, it is at times like this when you realize how powerful the fans can be. The one drawback is the lack of parking around the stadium, Mr. Know it all was almost attacked by an irate homeowner for parking on the pavement next to his house, I don’t know if this was a coincidence, but the homeowner was wearing a Chiefs hat. This is going to be a problem, it must be sorted out ASAP.

Orlando Stadium – Moroka Swallows
It was hilarious to see 345 fans at the Orlando stadium when Swallows hosted Platinum stars, Swallows had expressed their disappointment on not being the first team to play at the new venue as had been previously planned. Really now opening the legendary stadium with 345 fans, in front of all FIFA big wigs who were here for the CONFED draw, shameful. Everyone must be relieved that Orlando Pirates hijacked the whole thing the night before.

Orlando Stadium – Kaizer Chiefs
Well Chiefs did what was necessary in this game, they beat Arrows. On the same day I drove through Krugersdorp and wondered where Chiefs are in term of the progress in the building of their very own stadium, I think the announcement was made 5 years ago already, the area is still bare. Is this stadium a figment of Bobby’s imagination? Or maybe he suddenly realized that spending a billion rand is no child’s play even if your daddy is Kaizer.

The Confederations Cup Draw
I could not believe my ears when people were proclaiming an easy draw for Bafana Bafana. I see people don’t know BAFANA at all, the easier the draw the worse they play, who would have ever thought that we would fail to beat the likes of Sierra Leone. So I would suggest that Bafana take Iraq seriously, not because the IRAQ is a great team, but because they are a better team than Sierra Leone.

Super Stadium: A timed bomb

The dust has finally settled on Wednesday night's big game at Super Stadium. Tickets were sold out and many could not get their hands on the tickets, and as always, we had a number of people who expected to buy tickets at the stadium.

As a country that is about to host the World Cup in a couple of months time, we really are skating on thin ice. Well most of our stadiums are still under construction, but taking the game of that magnitude to Super Stadium is simply calling for disaster. Like I always say, I have nothing against Super, but I simply have the interest of this country at heart.

There were a couple of thousand people outside the stadium. They were very eager to see the game even though they did not have the tickets. People wanted to bring the fence down so as to get access to the stadium. Bring the fence down they did, but as to whether they made it through to see the game I am not sure. Security was hard at work. We really do not want to be on the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

I hope and pray they do not in anyway or circumstances, take Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns game to Super Stadium. I tell you there will be disaster. Super Stadium is too small, and it’s in the middle of Kasie, and it therefore makes it difficult to control people who might come late without tickets, with only money in their hands.

Super Stadium is simply a timed bomb, which I hope, for the sake of this country and the trust vested in us by FIFA, does not explode.

A trip down memory lane

Well it was around July when Mina noProf finally agreed on what to do, iblog that will feed Mzansi the very best of the best. We played around a couple of names, until we finally agreed, Diskioff. There we go, our first article, Monday, August 25th, 2008.

Amakhosi edge through was our debut article, by none other that Proffesor himself. Then I read it and thought, well we have a long way to go. Kaizer Chiefs had just lost 1-0 to Moroka Swallows, but having edged through on a 2-1 aggregate. Well Prof could hardly put two paragraphs on the very first article but like the wise people say, a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

That only made us to go from strength to strength, with us aiming beyond the sky. Look at us now, a few months later, I am putting together our 400th article, wow. We since managed to put together a team most websites only dream to have, and well they can have it but not our first lady, I am talking about someone at the heart of Diskioff, the rose among the thorns, our very own Miss K.

Well to this team I can simply say once again, you are simply the best, and you set your own standards and you know that the only thing we need to do is keep our very own standards.

Proffesor: "True words from Baile! I remember the first article of DISKIOFF as I wrote it around 11pm. Mr. Know it ALL made his debut with a powerful article as well (Sundowns has a lot of Moola! – 29 August 2008). Then it was Sthe with his European news that knocked down a lot people. Miss K was on her own game as she added what was missing in the team. Who should forget the dynamic three: Nito, Doc, and Tumisho. If I have time I would write a book about these talented guys as every time I read their stories I get inspired. This dynamic Diskioff blog has really grown and it's all thanks to our loyal fans!"

Mr. Know it ALL: “Mr. Know it All’s I write what I like reflects the attitude of the guys at Diskioff, we are not loyal to any teams in our reflections, we say it as it is, we do not often agree but we still say it as it is, it is no wonder that the mainstream media visits us more often than they will ever admit. We do not write to please each other, we do not write to promote the teams we love, we keep our standards high and we are indebted to the followers of the blog for making it what it is, but the challenge is to grow much bigger so just like I do, send links of interesting articles to your friends, to your enemies, to your girlfriends etc. Write to us and tell us what you think. For the love of football we all write what we like.”

To our loyal Diskioff fans, without you we simply are nothing at all. We intend to make you enjoy this blog even more, so keep on coming back for more because the very best is yet to come.

People remember that on this very special day, we need to take a moment of silence to all those who are affected and infected by HIV and AIDS and most of all reflect on our own behavior. Let us be wise and Condomise South Africa.

Diskioff wants to wish all of you, a blessed Aids day with the hope of us understanding the significance of taking that AIDS Test and knowing our statuses.
