How to finance development in SA soccer

Here is my recommendations for the clubs: First the clubs must get sponsorships that pays for fans during home games. This could be done by ensuring that all supporters are registered at the beginning of the season. During registration a member must get a membership card with full ID and photo, a free club home jersey.

The cards should be valid for one season, and renewable. During home games, fans then bring their cards (and home jersey) and pay nothing, anyone else pays as usual. The costs of this would be covered in the club sponsorship (kit sponsor may contribute the jerseys), as this would ensure maximum exposure of the sponsoring brands (brand name printed on the jerseys).

This would surely encourage attendance at stadiums. Once established then a certain section of the stands would be devoted to home-team and jersey bearing fans.

Once the stadium are full every match time, then club sponsors would have to go deeper in their pockets so that clubs could be pay young players (17-24) very well! And the league (Not SAFA!) would then finance under 17, 19 and 23 leagues (not forgetting Mvela). There should also be an age limit in Mvela, say maybe 27 (older people should do something else, maybe coach under 17 teams)

All the SADC countries are then invited to an annual under- 23 tournaments (featuring a number of qualifying under23 clubs from each country)

A special sponsor is then established to cover the costs of Bafana fans during SA games, prior to the match people get free tickets on first come first served basis. The sponsor gets TV coverage, and pays the bill.There you are South Africa, our soccer beyond 2010.
